SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman robbed a San Diego vape and smoke shop at gunpoint and was later arrested, authorities said Saturday.It happened just before 10 p.m. Friday at the shop at 3094 National Avenue, according to San Diego police Officer Robert Heims.The woman walked in, pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money, Heims said. She took an unknown amount of money and fled eastbound on National Avenue.Officers located the suspect a few hours later near South 32nd Street and arrested her, he said.The suspect was identified as Jeanette Sarmiento, 37, Heims said. 579

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Alliance of American Football team the San Diego Fleet will host a community drive Monday to collect donations of food, blood and necessities like clothes and soap.The event is the Fleet's first-ever donation drive since beginning play in the AAF in February. Donations made at the event will benefit the San Diego Blood Bank, the Alpha Project and the San Diego Food Bank. Many nonessential businesses will be required to move to outdoor-only operations. These include restaurants, family entertainment centers, wineries, places of worship, movie theaters, museums, gyms, zoos, aquariums and cardrooms.Amusement parks are closed. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A woman who had more than three times the legal blood-alcohol limit when she crashed her SUV head-on into another vehicle while driving her three young daughters through Rancho Bernardo pleaded guilty Friday to felony child abuse and drunk driving charges. Mayra Alejandra Troncoso, 30, had a .29 percent blood-alcohol content when she drove on the wrong side of Camino del Norte on Nov. 12, 2018. Her SUV crashed head-on into an oncoming 2011 Jeep Liberty, causing severe injuries -- including a skull fracture and a brain bleed -- to her 9-month-old daughter, who was riding unrestrained. The defendant's 2-year-old daughter suffered facial injuries and her 8-year-old child broke a bone. The 57-year-old driver of the other car suffered broken bones, authorities said.
