SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in identifying a man seen fleeing the scene of a deadly shooting in the Chollas Creek neighborhood.Officers responding to reports of gunfire near Colina Park Golf Course about 2:30 p.m. Friday found 26-year-old Lazaro Orozco mortally wounded in the 4000 block of 52nd Street, according to San Diego police. Medics took Orozco to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.A man believed to be the shooter was seen running out of the area to the west following the shooting, Lt. Matthew Dobbs said.The suspect was described as a roughly 5-foot-7-inch Latino in his 20s or early 30s, wearing plaid shorts, a white shirt, a blue jacket, white tennis shoes and what appeared to be a cast or bandage on his left arm.Investigators believe the deadly shooting occurred during a roadside fight between the two men. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Attempted murder, kidnapping, child abuse, child abduction, criminal threats and burglary charges have been filed against a man accused of intentionally driving a pickup truck off Sunset Cliffs and into the ocean with his twin toddler daughters inside, the San Diego County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.Robert Brians is being held without bail on suspicion of driving into the water last Saturday morning with his 2-year-old daughters inside the truck. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Citing the potential risks of sexual and physical abuse to children, San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan today urged Gov. Gavin Newsom to consider allowing county school districts to make their own determinations regarding reopening in advance of a Tuesday decision that could send the county to the most restrictive tier of the state's coronavirus reopening roadmap.In a letter sent Monday to Newsom, Stephan said there has been ``a drastic increase in child predatory behavior on the internet'' with children out of school and teachers unable to ``be the eyes and ears of law enforcement'' to report suspected abuse among their students.Local reports to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force have tripled since schools were shuttered due to the pandemic, and that similar increases have been seen nationwide, Stephan said. Stephan also said domestic violence reports have increased since stay- at-home orders were issued, and that Rady Children's Hospital has seen an increase in ``consult cases,'' in which cases of suspected child abuse are reported by physicians.Stephan's letter was sent in advance of Newsom's Tuesday decision regarding San Diego County's COVID-19 category status, when the county could potentially slide into the ``Purple Tier,'' meaning many schools could not open for in-person learning.``When evaluating the health of our children and our community, we must consider the effects of COVID-19, but also acknowledge and weigh the other real and potentially more life-threatening threat from violence and exploitation of children,'' Stephan said.``This is the public safety lens that I sincerely hope you will consider.'' SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Mayor Kevin Faulconer today signed an emergency executive order that allows restaurants throughout the city to operate outside effective immediately.Notable parts of the order include allowing restaurants to establish sidewalk cafes and use private parking lots for dining.Restaurants must still comply with county and state ordinances, including following ADA requirements for sidewalk cafes. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Countywide sales of previously owned single-family homes and attached properties both fell from September to October while prices increased, according to data released Thursday by the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.Sales of single-family homes fell 4.9% from 1,862 in September to 1,771 in October while attached-property sales fell 2% from 943 in September to 924 last month. Sold listings of both property types have fallen for four consecutive months, according to the GSDAR.Median sale prices of single-family homes rose 3.1% from 5,000 in September to 5,000 in October while attached property prices increased 2.4% from 9,000 in September to 9,000 last month.
