VIENNA (AP) — Officials say at least two people were killed and 15 others wounded in Vienna after multiple gunmen opened fire on people enjoying a last evening out before lockdown in the Austrian capital. Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz confirmed that one attacker was killed in what security officials were calling a terror attack. Austria’s top security official said authorities believe there were several gunmen involved and that a police operation was still ongoing. Interior Minister Karl Nehammer told public broadcaster ORF that the perpetrators were armed with rifles. WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she is ordering the removal from the Capitol of portraits honoring four previous House speakers who served in the Confederacy.In a letter Thursday to the House clerk, Pelosi directed the immediate removal of portraits depicting these former speakers: Robert Hunter of Virginia, James Orr of South Carolina, and Howell Cobb and Charles Crisp, both of Georgia.Pelosi says the House was unaware of the portraits until an inventory was taken of the chamber’s statues.“We didn't know about this until we were taking inventory of the statues,” she said. “And the curator told us that there were four paintings of speakers in that and the Capitol of the United States four speakers who had served in the Confederacy.”Pelosi says that "there is no room in the hallowed halls of Congress or in any place of honor for memorializing men who embody the violent bigotry and grotesque racism of the Confederacy.″Pelosi says the portraits will be taken down in observance of Juneteenth, a June 19 holiday that celebrates the end of slavery in the U.S. 1094

WASHINGTON — Retiring U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander, R-Tennessee, gave his farewell address from the Senate floor Wednesday morning, urging for a "change of behavior."Alexander is retiring after more than 40 years in public service. During his farewell remarks, he called for bipartisanship among what has been a deeply divided Senate over the past decade."Divided government offers an opportunity to share the responsibility — or the blame — for hard decisions," Alexander said. "That's why our country needs a United States Senate, to thoughtfully, carefully and intentionally put country before partisanship and personal politics, to force broad agreements on controversial issues that become laws most of us have voted for and that a diverse country will accept."Alexander also offered a defense of the filibuster, the parliamentary rule that allows a minority party to block legislation. He says the rule forces the Senate to work together to solve problems as opposed to allowing one party to dominate the chamber.Some progressive Democrats have floated eliminating the filibuster in the hopes of passing more legislation.Alexander's career began in 1978 when he famously walked more than 1,000 miles across Tennessee to make his case to be governor. He served two terms as the state governor and later took the helm at the University of Tennessee. He also served as President George H.W. "Ii found such a cool fascination to the colors, shapes, and varieties," she says.Now when Jessica graduated from college, she thought she'd go into public relations. Little did she know that her hobby would become her career."I actually started creating succulent pumpkins with my grandmother every fall as a hobby. I just posted some photos on social media my first year out of college, and it just blew up."So just a couple of years out of college and her hobby turned into an online store called "in Succulent Love.
