It's such a small-town feel. People say ‘hi’ to each other. You know your neighbors," said Cory Stock.Stock is a hard-working Surface Rescue Swimmer Instructor for the Navy. So, Stock decided Coronado would also be a great place to call home. But there was one problem."The turnaround of places is so quick here," said Stock.Knowing anything in his price range might get snatched up in a heartbeat, Stock decided to get proactive and created a post on the Coronado Happenings Facebook page. He was looking for a one or two bedroom rental no later than January 1. And it worked. Within weeks Stack and his girlfriend found an affordable home near work, right in the middle of paradise. "Facebook is so big now and social media,” said Stock. “It's a lot easier to get your name out that way to people you'll probably never meet rather than hoping you bump into somebody."Stock moves into his new place at the beginning of the new year. 2097

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions discussed record-setting drug seizures in San Diego today.Rep. Duncan Hunter, Rep. Darrell Issa, and U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Paul Zukunft joined Sessions at the news conference at the Tenth Ave. Marine Terminal.Coast Guard officials offloaded more than 50,000 pounds of cocaine and heroin since the beginning of August. The drugs have a street value of almost 0 million."By preventing overdoses and stopping new addictions before they start, enforcing our drug laws saves lives," Attorney General Sessions said. "This record-breaking year by our Coast Guard saw the arrest of more than 600 suspected drug traffickers and kept nearly half a million pounds of dangerous drugs from getting to our streets--and ultimately to our neighbors, friends, and families."Adm. Zukunft said the Coast Guard has seized more than 455,000 pounds this year - more than all of last year."These drugs represent the scale of the threat transnational organized crime poses to our nation and to all peaceful nations of the Western Hemisphere," Adm. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – While 28,000 doses of the vaccine might sound like a lot, the county says it still won’t be enough to cover health care workers at the top of the list to get it.It’s a start, but immunologist Dr. Robert Schooley says we still have a long way to go.“It’s going to take a while but at least now we understand what the endpoint will be,” said Schooley.RELATED: How a COVID-19 vaccine will be distributed to San Diego's medical workersAccording to San Diego County, the initial shipment of 28,000 vaccines will only cover 72% of the top-tier health are workers who need it. That’s not enough for long-term care residents and staff who are also in the phase 1A top-tier to receive it.The shipment will only cover the first of two doses necessary for the Pfizer vaccine. The second doses will come in subsequent shipments.While there won’t be enough doses for all the front-line workers at UCSD, it is giving them hope.“The good news is we’ll be getting quite a few doses of the vaccine," Schooley says. “We’ll be getting farther down the list than we thought we were going to get.”The next hurdle for the vaccine is gaining widespread public trust.“These vaccines have been in tens-of-thousands of people and the FDA has gone over the data extremely carefully,” said Schooley. “I certainly would have no qualms myself about getting vaccinated this afternoon.”Schooley says about 70% of the population would need to get vaccinated to reach herd immunity. He estimated that could take up to 9 months.The county expects the next shipment of vaccines in three to four weeks. 1592
