SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A jury has reached a verdict in the civil trial between NFL star Drew Brees and a San Diego-based jeweler. Between 2012 and 2016, the Brees family says Moradi sold them million in diamonds. But when they took those diamonds to an appraiser in 2017, they were told the diamonds are worth million less than what they paid.In one instance, Brees' attorney Rebecca Riley said Moradi sold the NFL star a diamond for .1 million that was actually worth .75 million. "He held him in esteem. He believed him to be a friend."Moradi's attorney, Peter Ross, says the Houston-based jeweler the Breeses consulted was a "con man" who scammed the couple."How could he possibly know that Drew Brees had been ripped off?" Ross asked the jury. "He couldn't. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new study by Zillow shows that homebuyers with lower credit scored pay more for the same homes than buyers with excellent credit scores.According to Zillow, borrowers with excellent credit scores could get a mortgage with a 4.5 percent annual percentage rate.Borrowers with a fair credit score could get a 5.1 percent rate. Over the lifetime of a 30-year mortgage, that means a buyer with a fair credit score may end up paying an additional ,000 over the lifetime of the loan.In San Diego, where the median home value in March of 2018 was 5,300, Zillow estimates that homebuyers with fair credit will pay ,000 for the same home.The difference is only amplified in more expensive markets, Zillow says. In addition, the penalty for lower credit scores tends to be higher."When you buy a home, your financial history determines your financial future," said Zillow senior economist Aaron Terrazas. "Homebuyers with weaker credit end up paying substantially higher costs over the lifetime of a home loan. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A resident inside an Encanto home opened fire on an intruder Wednesday, San Diego Police said.The victim first vandalized a car in the 6800 block of Charlene Ave. in the Broadway Heights section of Encanto, according to police.Police believe the victim then used a rock to break into a home where people were inside. One person was armed and fired a shot at the intruder.The victim was taken to the hospital. He may be related to the people in the home, and may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.Officers did not release the victim’s identity or condition. 612

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego International Airport spokesperson said Wednesday a reported paging that went viral was made by mistake.Video on Twitter claimed to show San Diego Airport's messaging system announce a page for "Epstein Coverup" on a digital display. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who was ambushed and shot eight times by two gunmen early Sunday morning suffered non-life-threatening injuries, a San Diego Police Department officer said.The shooting happened at around 12:20 a.m. at 4700 Uvas St. in the Chollas View neighborhood between 47th and Market streets in San Diego.A 27-year-old male victim was standing on the sidewalk when a white sedan pulled up, said SDPD officer Robert Heims. Two Hispanic males got out of the vehicle and fired several rounds at the victim, striking him eight times. The suspects got back in the car and fled northbound 4700 Uvas St., said Heims.The victim was transported to the hospital and with non-life-threatening injuries. No other information about the victim or his injuries was released at time.The suspects were described as Hispanic males wearing black plaid shirts. SDPD Southeastern Division Detectives are investigating. 921
