SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The U.S. Coast Guard reports sightings of a whale in San Diego Bay.Several pictures were posted online by San Diego Floating Lab, which is located off Shelter Island in America's Cup Harbor.Captain Rick Scott of Ocean Odyssey took the photos. An employee at the business said it's common for juvenile whales to enter the bay, but they tend to find their way back out.The Coast Guard has not determined what type of whale is in the bay.Watch a Facebook live of the whale in the player below: Have you seen the whale? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The officer who saved two twin toddlers and their dad after their father drove off Sunset Cliffs was recognized for his heroic efforts this week.San Diego Police K9 officer Jonathan Wiese was awarded the Medal of Valor and Heroic Act award from the California Surf Lifesaving Association and United States Lifesaving Association for his efforts to save the three people on June 13.SDPD received a call about a suicidal man with twin two-year-old girls driving with the intention of careening off the Coronado Bridge. Wiese was able to get the man and the two girls from the car to the shore."I could see him and he had one of the girls in his arms, and I have a two-year-old daughter at home so I imagined, what if that was my wife and kid down there? You're not going to stand there on the cliff and watch it happen," he told ABC 10News in June. "And by then four or five other cops had shown up so I pretty much threw the end of the leash to them and then I said hang on and I just jumped off."The officer also performed rescue breathing on one of the girls who was limp after being pulled from the wreck.Wiese is the same officer who helped apprehend the suspected Poway synagogue shooter in April 2019. He was on his way to meet his family for lunch on Apr. 27 when he heard a call of shots fired and immediately responded to the area."I didn't do the job to be liked every day, I didn't do it to become rich, I did it because I want to be out there making a difference and helping people, as cliche as that might sound, but I was just glad I could be there," Wiese said referring to protecting the toddlers. 2058

We’ve waited a long time for a huge win like this.”Pekos was one of many Padres fans that watched the game in one of the downtown restaurants near Petco Park. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department has identified the officer involved in an East Village shooting over the weekend as Andres Ruiz. The department says Ruiz is assigned to the Canine Unit and has been with the department for more than 11 years. The incident started just before 10 p.m. on May 23 at an apartment complex on Park Boulevard and Market Street. Police were called to the complex following reports of a woman trowing objects from a window. When they arrived, officers found broken glass and furniture on the sidewalk below the unit. RELATED: Woman hurt in officer-involved shooting in East VillageAuthorities say the woman refused to listen and brandished a knife, continuing to throw objects from the window and refusing to come out of the building, prompting police to force their way into the building. After the woman locked herself into the bathroom, police used verbal direction, chemical agents, and a police canine in an effort to take the woman into custody. When officers made their way into the bathroom, the department says the woman grabbed and punched the canine and threatened officers with the knife. “One officer fearing that he was going to be struck or stabbed with a knife, fired at least one round striking the female,” said Capt. Rich Freedman of the San Diego Police Department.The woman was treated and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No officers were injured, but some people were hit by objects that were thrown out of the window. The suspect has only been identified as a 26-year-old San Diego resident. 1593
