(KGTV) — California officials announced Thursday the state's REAL ID identification is now in line with federal requirements.Last December, the Department of Homeland Security notified state officials that requirements for the new identification and drivers license needed to be stricter.Now, those applying for the card will need to show one proof of identity, original or certified; one proof of Social Security Number; and two proofs of California residency. A complete list of acceptable documents is available online here.Those who have already received a REAL ID license or card will receive a letter in the mail asking them to confirm their address and must mail the form back to the DMV. This will count for their second form of identification.RELATED: San Diego DMV customer has warning about websitePreviously, the state only required one proof of residency and counted the post office's delivery of the ID as the second form, placing it at odds with federal requirements.Beginning on Oct. 1, 2020, the REAL ID drivers license or ID will be needed for airline passengers traveling domestically or accessing federal facilities or military bases. However, airline passengers will still be able to show a passport to travel within the U.S. as well.Residents are encouraged to schedule appointments to apply for a REAL ID and fill out the necessary paperwork (available online) before visiting DMV offices.So far, the state estimates about 4.1 million REAL ID drivers licenses and cards have been issued. 1518

(CNN) -- Maui residents who evacuated their homes because of a wildfire are allowed to return, the County of Maui announced Friday on Facebook.But Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino cautioned that, "This fire is still an active threat to our community, and residents are urged to remain vigilant of changing conditions," in the same post.Firefighters will continue to monitor the blaze that has consumed an estimated 10,000 acres of fallow former sugar cane and dry brush, according the county.The fire was reported Thursday morning at 10:42 a.m. local time near the intersection of Waiko Road and Kuihelani Highway.The County of Maui activated its Emergency Operations Center in the morning. By afternoon, the flames were burning out of control and emergency officials sent a mobile alert warning nearby residents to evacuate.More than 600 people fled as the blaze scorched 3,000 acres, the mayor's office said. The Maui Humane Society moved its animals in crates and kennels to a nearby high school.Helicopters were grounded after sunset, and they are expected to return to making air drops after sunrise, according to a news release from the county.Oprah Winfrey has a home in the county, and tweeted a local resident to confirm that she's given officials fighting the fire access to her private road. "A big mahalo to Oprah for giving Maui County access to your private road for use to assist in the Maui fire," Hawaii Gov. (KGTV) - For the third year in a row, babies were born too soon, a sign that the health of mothers and infants is worsening, according to March of Dimes.The statistics recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed the preterm birth rates rose to 9.93 percent in 2017, up from 9.86 in 2016.The rate marks the third consecutive increase after seven years of decline, according to the CDC. The new figures showed the rate increased among non-Hispanic black women and Hispanic women, and remained unchanged among non-Hispanic white women.RELATED: Number of babies born in the US dropped to a 30-year low"Moms and babies are facing an urgent health crisis in this country," Stacey Stewart, president of March of Dimes, said.
