With the advancement of technology, it’s rare to pay for things using cash. We use our cards, phones and the internet to pay for what we need. Now, more churches are turning to digital donations to collect their tithes and offerings.St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Denver, Colorado is one church already going digital.Judy Cox, a churchgoer and volunteer at St. Andrew, doesn’t wait until Sunday to give her donations to the church.“It's like all the rest of my bills; I pay them electronically,” explains Cox. “Then that's one huge chore I don't have to think of each month.”Andy Dunning, an executive pastor at St. Andrew, says more than 40 percent of the congregation is giving their offerings regularly online. 728

in connection with the disappearance of Savannah Spurlock, a missing mother of four.David Sparks was taken into custody and charged with tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse. Kentucky State Police (KSP) say that human remains were found on a property on Fall Lick Road in Garrard County. The remains were found just before midnight. Police are waiting on an autopsy for a positive ID.KSP confirmed that it was a tip that led them to the home. According to an arrest citation, someone in the home contacted police saying they smelled a foul odor coming from the property.KSP said the property belongs to the parents of one of the suspects who troopers believe was one of the three people with whom Spurlock was last seen. Upon arrival, officers located concealed remains buried under the ground behind the home. It's not the first time that police have searched the home. Police also searched the same property in February. 940

With reported squabbling between the CDC and White House, the CDC announced late Wednesday that a no-sail order on passenger cruise ships has been extended through the month of October due to the coronavirus pandemic. The order, which will now run through Oct. 31, was set to expire tonight.According to the New York Times, the CDC had wanted to extend the order into February, but the White House blocked the move. The no-sail order, which originally began in April, prohibits cruise ships from carrying 250 passengers in waters subject to US jurisdiction. The CDC said it has identified at least 3,689 coronavirus-related illnesses, and 41 associated deaths, although the CDC cautions these figures are likely an underestimate.“On cruise ships, passengers and crew share spaces that are more crowded than most urban settings,” the CDC said. “Data show that when only essential crew are on board, ongoing spread of SARS-CoV-2 still occurs. If unrestricted cruise ship passenger operations were permitted to resume, passengers and crew on board would be at increased risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and those that work or travel on cruise ships would place substantial unnecessary risk on healthcare workers, port personnel and federal partners (i.e., Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Coast Guard), and the communities they return to.”While it’s possible the cruise industry can resume operations in November, it’s likely that the coronavirus will continue to have a significant effect on the industry for months to come. Carnival had already announced plans to suspended operations on several ships until the spring. 1629
