(KGTV) — A vehicle crashed into an East County restaurant Wednesday, before the driver fled on foot and left behind a massive mess.The vehicle careened through the Ali Baba restaurant at 421 E. Main St. before 2:30 p.m., before the driver fled the scene a short distance to park the vehicle and continued to flee on foot, according to El Cajon Police.No one in the building was injured, but photos from Thair Behnan, the manager of the restaurant, showed a massive mess of shattered glass and wall.The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, wearing a white shirt, and jeans.Anyone with information on the incident or who locates the suspect is asked to call El Cajon Police at 619-579-3311. 718
EL CAJON (CNS) - A passenger in a vehicle was killed Sunday when its driver left the roadway in El Cajon and struck a light pole.The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the El Cajon Police Department reported.The driver allegedly was speeding westbound on Chase Avenue when the vehicle hit the pole near Wilson Avenue. Police and firefighters were dispatched at approximately 6:45 a.m. to the crash scene in the area of Chase and Wilson avenues.The driver was extracted from the vehicle, treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital, police said. The driver's condition was not immediately known.El Cajon police asked anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 619-579-3311. 720
Dr. Scott Gottlieb, commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, announced Tuesday a "blitz" on retailers?for violations related to sales of Juul and other e-cigarettes to minors.Forty warning letters were sent to brick-and-mortar retailers as a first step toward stopping underage use of e-cigarettes, the FDA said. The government agency also said it sent Juul Labs, the maker of an e-cigarette popular among teens, a request to submit documents related to product marketing and research, including information about "youth initiation and use.""We don't yet fully understand why these products are so popular among youth," Gottlieb wrote in the public statement. "But it's imperative that we figure it out, and fast. These documents may help us get there."Juul spokeswoman Victoria Davis said the company "agrees with the FDA that illegal sales of our product to minors are unacceptable. We already have in place programs to prevent and, if necessary, identify and act upon these violations at retail and online marketplaces, and we will announce additional measures in the coming days."Electronic cigarettes (also called e-cigarettes or e-cigs), vapes, vaporizers and hookah pens are among the terms used to describe electronic nicotine delivery systems. "Going out and championing important causes.”Considering Dr. Biden is an educator and a mother, Churches says she’s optimistic about her time in office.“I really hope that as Dr. Biden embarks on working and on her bold agenda as first lady, that we can also begin to center the incredible need for care giving and valuing caregiving in our nation," Churches said, "Flexible work schedules – look, women make up half the labor force, but many of them are having to choose between family or paychecks right now because of all the uncertainties the COVID pandemic has laid bare.”Whether working a full-time job or not, both Jellison and Churches say they would like to see first ladies in the future given more freedom to be themselves. 3230
