RAMONA (KGTV) - — The owner of Ramona Fitness Center is trying to rally business owners to stand up for their rights and consider defying San Diego County public health orders that require many businesses to close.“They’re forcing us out of business," Peter San Nicolas told ABC 10News in an interview Tuesday. "They’ll force people to not be able to pay for food and pay for home, for somewhere to live. We’re talking about basic necessities and they’re pushing us to the limit.”Gyms are among the sectors ordered to cease all indoor operations after the county moved into the state's purple, or worst, tier. This comes as the county recorded 1,546 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, a single-day record.San Nicolas makes the case that gyms can open safely and that forcing them to close will not stop the spread. “We haven’t had any issue with it here in the gym. We’ve had over 25,000 check-ins just since June and we’ve had no cases of covid here at the gym.”According to the latest outbreak numbers on the county website, only 0.4% of all cases recorded between June 5 and November 14 have been tied to gyms. However, many public health experts say there is no question gyms should be closed during this most recent surge. "Gyms are one of the riskiest possible businesses," said Dr. Rebecca Fielding-Miller, an epidemiologist who teaches at UC San Diego, in an email to ABC 10News. RAMONA (KGTV)- Myrtle the coyote is recovering at The Fund for the Animals Wildlife Center in Ramona, after the Rancho Bernardo neighborhood came together to help.Katie Ryan has been watching Myrtle the coyote for years, and sounded the alarm when she first saw the new mother ensnared in a pipe. Katie guessed Myrtle was trying to capture a small animal that hid in the pipe and she got stuck. It took five weeks of constant phone calls, prayers and sleepless nights looking after Myrtle before she could get a trapper to catch the elusive coyote."I can't even describe I was crying and laughing all at the same time," Ryan said, her smile wide. She enlisted neighbors to block off the area, after a failed attempt Monday night due to a man trying to approach Myrtle and scaring her off.Neighbors said they guarded the neighborhood for hours Tuesday evening, going home with no hope. Then, a few minutes later, Myrtle followed a trail of rotisserie chicken and was caught in a trap around 8:30p.m.The Fund for the Animals Wildlife Center picked up the coyote that night and sent this statement. 1118

President Trump has signed the Music Modernization Act into law, a bill that will bring sweeping changes to the way music is licensed and songwriters are paid.Supporters say the Music Modernization Act, championed by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tennessee), will ensure that songwriters get paid fairly for their work in the streaming age.  A key aspect of the legislation is the creation of a new independent entity that will license songs to companies that play music online. The group will then pay songwriters, while digital streaming services, like Spotify or Pandora, can ask for a blanket license. This is the first overhaul to music copyright law in decades.
