(KGTV) — Bar patrons foiled a robbery Saturday by rushing the accused gunman and holding him until deputies arrived.Patrons at the Red Eye Saloon at 1448 South Mission Rd. in Fallbrook were in the bar's parking lot around 2 a.m. when a man pulled a gun on them and demanded their wallets and cell phones, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Fidel Moreno, fired one shot in the air, witnesses told deputies.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodFearing for their safety, the group rushed Moreno and tackled him, according to deputies, and held him down until deputies got there.A 9mm pistol loaded with a 16 round magazine, with one casing missing, were found at the scene, deputies said. A spent shell casing was located near where Moreno was being held down.Deputies said Moreno was also in possession of two loaded 10 round magazines.Moreno was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, negligent discharge of a firearm, and other firearm charges.He's scheduled to appear in court Aug. 21 and is being held on 0,000 bail. 1142

(KGTV) - The dramatic collapse of a tree in front of an Escondido family’s home was caught on camera during a Red Flag Warning Tuesday.Mike and Selene Neumann woke up to howling winds early Tuesday morning at their home on Pico de la Loma.Selene walked out to record video and saw a 60-foot tall tree laying across the yard and the top of their 1997 BMW Z3 Roadster.The tree, an Italian Cypress, mangled the convertible top, shattered the windows, and bent the door.When the Neumanns saw the video from their Ring camera, they were “astounded”.The fallen tree had been in place since the home was built in 1979.Experts checked out other trees on the Neumann’s property and removed a similar Italian Cypress near the uprooted tree. 756

(KGTV) - Paralympic Triathlete Amy Dixon trains, and lives by a simple motto: No Sight, No Limits.Now, new technology is taken even more of her limits away.Dixon is 98% blind, the result of a rare autoimmune disorder she got in her early 20s.Over the summer, she started using the IrisVision headset, which has helped give her a full field of vision."I can only see my knuckles and part of my fingers. The fingertips and palm are completely missing," Dixon explains when describing her sight. "With the headset, I saw my whole hand for the first time in 22 years!"The IrisVision Headset uses cameras mounted to a virtual reality-style headset. Technology within the headset helps focus the camera's view onto the part of the retina that can still process light. That creates a fuller picture for the wearer."It takes what's in front of you and remaps it on the digital screen inside the headset in a way that you can see," says IrisVision CEO Ammad Khan."I cannot wait to see how this technology will help hundreds of thousands of people around the world," he says.Dixon says it's helping her with the mundane, everyday aspects of training for the Paralympics."Writing sponsors, working on a computer, emails, doing expense reports and progress reports for USA Triathlon; it enables me to do all of that," she says. "That's equally as important as my training."Khan says this will help people with limited sight be able to do things like watch tv, play cards, go to movies, cook, navigate around their house, and all of the other mundane daily activities that people will full sight take for granted.He also says that this could help people stay in jobs longer, even as their eyesight gets worse.The headset is also equipped with Amazon Alexa and several other apps to make life easier.It was developed with the help of Johns Hopkins University and has FDA Approval. Khan says the headset is covered for Veterans under the VA system, and his company is working on getting more insurance carriers to cover it.Dixon is working towards the same goal through her non-profit foundation.Meanwhile, she's also working towards Tokyo in 2020. A nonspecific threat was posted on an old video circulating online, according to the Escondido Union High School District community relations officer. The attack was caught on security camera video Monday morning.The man calmly walks up a set of stairs around 9 a.m. before turning toward the Fargo office of U.S. Senator John Hoevens.
