RAROTONGA, Cook Islands, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai firmly rejected suggestions Thursday that China's assistance to developing Pacific countries was aimed at furthering China's own interests.
Private companies which have invested abroad are asked to abide by local laws and regulations, respect local social customs, protect the interests of their employees, fulfill social responsibility, according to the statement.
Liu Kegu, advisor to the China Development Bank, also said that the government should better fulfill its role in income redistribution and tax reform, in order to create a more fair and balanced distribution system.
On promoting pragmatic cooperation, the Chinese president suggested the two sides expand economic and trade cooperation, fully implement a long-term trade agreement signed in late 2009 as well as a currency swap agreement signed in 2011, and deepen energy cooperation.
