(KGTV) - Escondido Police arrested a pastor who allegedly molested a young girl, authorities announced Friday afternoon.John Rodgers McFarland was taken into custody on Dec. 18 by the Escondido Police Department. The arrest occurred in Fullerton, where McFarland lived and worked. Escondido Police say the alleged incident happened in Escondido several years ago while McFarland was visiting family in the area.He has been charged with two counts of lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14. Since 2014, McFarland has been the head pastor at Orangethorpe United Methodist Church in Fullerton, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department. Before that, he had served as the head of Fountain Valley United Methodist church since 1988. He also was a pastor at Surf City Church in Huntington Beach from 2009 to 2014. According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, there may be other victims abused during his time in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach. (KGTV) — A brush fire along Interstate 15 in Escondido forced several lanes of traffic to close as crews worked to douse flames.The brush fire was reported along northbound I-15, just after State route 78, at about 1 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol.The fire forced at least one lane closed on NB I-15, as well as the westbound connector of SR-78 to NB I-15 as of 2:20 p.m., Caltrans San Diego said. ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) -- The identity of the third victim in the Encinitas bluff collapse has been identified. According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner, 62-year-old Elizabeth Charles also died in the collapse. Her sister, Julie Davis and niece Anne Clave were also killed when the bluff gave way. A 30-foot by 25-foot slab of rock came crashing down onto Grandview Beach at about 3 p.m. Friday.Moments after the collapse, beachgoers and lifeguards began sifting through the rubble to save those caught in the rocks' path."The lifeguard was there, adjacent to the incident, felt it, heard it. It just happened to take place outside of his peripheral, as he was watching the water it happened behind him," Encinitas Lifeguard Captain Larry Giles said. "He immediately got out of the lifeguard tower, called it in, sized it up, started requesting resources and engaged in doing rescue work. (KGTV) -- A driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 15 in Escondido was ejected from her car after crashing into a freeway zipper machine early Wednesday morning.At around 12:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received multiple calls about a car going southbound on northbound I-15 near Via Rancho Parkway.Moments later, the CHP was notified that the vehicle crashed head-on into a zipper barrier machine.CHP officials said the female driver was thrown from her car and landed about 30 feet from the wreckage.
