Lauren Mulvihill did not know what to expect when she was called to the hospital for an Uber pick up.89-year-old Ronald Dembner had just been discharged from the hospital with no one to take him home.Last week, Mulvihill drove Dembner from the hospital in Henry County, Georgia, to his home and helped him inside. When she saw the terrible condition of his home, she knew she needed to help.Dembner, who Mulvihill calls Mr. Ronald, is a widower and veteran who now lives alone with his dog King. He has no living family. Mulvihill said that Dembner had not called someone to help clean his house out of fear they would take it away from him.The veteran has been living in squalor. Dembner has his wits about him, but he has a hard time getting around, cleaning the house and picking up after his dog.Mulvihill knew she couldn't clean up the house herself. That's when the single mom went to Facebook to call for help. The response was overwhelming.Dozens of volunteers came forward and began to clean and help strip apart the house. In just a week's time, they have already removed all of the garbage, the old furniture and the old carpet.The next step is painting the walls and putting in new floor. They're also trying to get someone to come fix the mold situation, Mulvihill says the work can be at lot at times but she tries to work one room at a time.The public Facebook group, 1395

It’s a sport about discipline, competition and drive, and according to Rene Carrasco, life can always be a fight. “Mexicans, we love boxing,” says Rene. “It use to be nothing but a man’s sport, you know Machismo type of deal, but it’s evolved since then.”Rene's 15-year-old daughter, Arianna Carrasco, is one of the best boxers for her age. “It’s like a high kind of, with all the adrenaline,” Arianna describes. “That’s why I love it. I just get really focused about what I’m about to do when I box.” The 15-year-old boxer is a five-time national champion in boxing. According to her father, she has only been boxing for three years. “It’s unheard of for girls to come in with such little experience and go to the top right away,” Rene says. However, Arianna fights for more than glory, she fights for those living in the border land. “I have a really close connection to the Mexican-American heritage,” Arianna says. “Everything with my family, I feel proud when I get to go out and show that.” “Almost everything is a fight when you’re Hispanic,” Rene says. "My dad is born and raised in Chihuahua Mexico. He came here when he was 30-years-old. And what they’ve gone through, it just a pride when my daughter can go out there and perform the way she does. In September, when we go to Poland, that’s for a world championship. That’s the goal. It shows no matter what your background is if you work hard, it will pay off. The announcement comes as nearly 150 countires worldwide have reported a confirm case. The recommendation is especially important for older individuals, and those with a serious chronic medical condition. The CDC noted several recent examples of where the the coronavirus spread among passengers on board cruise ships. Recent examples include 696 cases and 8 deaths on the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan and 28 cases on the Grand Princess cruise ship in the United States, the CDC said. The CDC issued the following recommendations to tell patients who plan on going on cruise ships and river boats:Advise patients to defer all cruise ship travel, including river cruises, worldwide.Explain that their return travel to the United States may be impacted, and formal quarantine procedures may be implemented if confirmed cases are identified on board.Explain that appropriate medical care or medical evacuation may not be available internationally.Explain that some countries may refuse docking or disembarkation if there are known or suspected cases on board.For patients who still intend to cruise, advise them to practice social distancing and monitor their health both during travel and for 14 days from the time they disembark. Social distancing means staying out of crowded places, avoiding group gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others, when possible.The guidance came on the same day that President Donald Trump and leading health officials suggested that gatherings of 10 or more people pose a risk to older and disabled people.
