SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police Department is investigating a video sent to several employees that depicts Hitler and makes "offensive" remarks about an investigation into officers eating inside a restaurant amid stay-at-home orders.The video was created after an internal investigation was launched over officers eating inside a restaurant during the state's stay-at-home order, said SDPD public-affairs Lt. Shawn Takeuchi. Those orders banned indoor dining at the time.Takeuchi says whoever created the video was clearly angry over the department's investigation into that incident.The video uses a clip from the 2004 film "Downfall," a German film depicting the final days of Adolf Hitler during World War II. A scene in the film showing an enraged Hitler yelling at military officials is used in various parody videos online.Takeuchi said the video being investigated added subtitles that, "negatively portrays the community and department leadership. The video also makes a homophobic comment regarding the Mayor."Mayor Todd Gloria, who took office this month, is the city's first openly gay mayor.The video surfaced on Saturday and began to circulate. Numerous department members who received the video alerted their supervisors. Internal Affairs was notified and started an investigation.Takeuchi called the video "extremely disturbing and offensive.""At this time, we do not know if this video was made by someone in the department or by someone who does not work at SDPD. We are still investigating to determine who was involved in creating it," said Takeuchi. "The department will not tolerate hateful speech of any kind. If the video was created by a department member, Chief Nisleit will take swift action. This is not who we are as a department. This is not who we are as San Diegans."Gloria responded to the video on Saturday, saying in a statement that, "I regret that this act by an apparently disgruntled individual is now reflecting poorly on our Department. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer, a Republican whose term ends next month, revealed he is considering running for governor in an interview Thursday with the Los Angeles Times.The race will be tough for any Republican, according to political analyst John Dadian, because registered Democrats far outnumber Republicans in California. Those registered with no party preference also outnumber Republicans. “The uphill is he’d have to pull in all the people that are neither democrat or republican, but it’s certainly possible," Dadian said.According to Dadian, many political pundits consider Faulconer to be the most viable Republican in a general election, citing his record as a moderate mayor who frequently cross the aisle to work with Democrats on issues such as climate change. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Reverend Sandra Dority knows the dangers of heart disease, the top killer in San Diego County."My sister just passed from a heart attack in December, and my mom had congestive heart failure," she told 10News this week.That's why the 74-year old makes sure to eat right, exercise and, above all, know her numbers."My blood pressure is 116 over 74, and that was after a five mile walk on Saturday," she says.Dority tells everyone she can to know their numbers. It's a message she says is especially important in the black community, where the prevalence of heart attacks, stroke and high blood pressure are higher than normal."We have to change our lifestyle," she says. "There is a better way to live, because the numbers aren't changing unless we change."Dority was one of the first people to join LiveWell San Diego in their Love Your Heart campaign, which offers free blood pressure screenings at hundreds of locations across the county. She brought information to her church, Mount Moriah Christian Church in Mira Mesa.Now, she volunteers at blood pressure screening events, helps run educational sessions, and makes sure pastors talk about heart health from the pulpit every Sunday."God is love and he wants us to reach out and let others know there's a better way to live.
