Harvey Weinstein has lost a longshot bid to move his sexual assault trial out of New York City.A state appellate panel rejected the request Thursday. It dismissed the movie mogul's concerns that he wouldn't get a fair trial in the world's media capital. The five-judge panel issued the decision after reading submissions from Weinstein's lawyers and prosecutors. The panel didn't give a reason for the decision.Weinstein is due to stand trial in Manhattan in January on charges he raped a woman in 2013 and performed a forcible sex act on a different woman in 2006.The 67-year-old producer has pleaded not guilty and is free on million bail. He maintains any sexual activity was consensual.Weinstein's lawyers didn't immediately comment on Thursday's ruling. Prosecutors declined comment. 802
Ford is partnering with the start-up Agility Robotics to see how a two-legged robot and self-driving vehicles can work together. The robot, named Digit, would be used to carry out the final step of getting your delivery from a car to your front door.Digit is a two-legged robot that looks and walks like a human. It's built out of lightweight material and capable of lifting packages that weight up to 40 pounds. Digit can go up and down stairs, walk through uneven terrain and react to things, like being bumped without losing balance and falling over.Digit can also tightly fold itself up in the back of a self-driving vehicle until it's called into action. Once a self-driving car arrives at its destination, Digit can be deployed to grab a package from the vehicle and carry out the final step in the delivery process. If Digit encounters an unexpected obstacle, it can send an image back to the vehicle and have the vehicle configure a solution. Ford is currently testing Digit in Detroit, Miami, Pittsburgh and Washington D.C. 1042

House Democrats have released a trove of documents they obtained from a close associate of President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, including a handwritten note that mentions asking Ukraine's president to investigate "the Biden case." The documents were obtained as part of the impeachment investigation, and show Lev Parnas communicating with Giuliani and Republican attorney Robert Hyde about the removal of the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch. Parnas received messages from a man who appeared to be describing detailed surveillance of Yovanovitch while she was in Ukraine. In the 624
Health officials said Wednesday they are actively monitoring 16 people who came into close contact with the traveler to China who became the first U.S. resident with a new and potentially deadly virus. The man, identified as a Snohomish County, Washington, resident is in his 30s, was in good condition and wasn’t considered a threat to the public. The hospitalized man had no symptoms when he arrived at the Seattle-Tacoma airport last week, but he started feeling ill. He had traveled to China in November, flying home to Washington state Jan. 15 before the start of U.S. airport screening.Investigators will make daily phone calls to those 16 who had contact with him, including some who sat near him on his flight, to check if they have symptoms. They will not be asked to isolate themselves unless they start feeling ill. “This may be a novel virus, but this is not a novel investigation,” said John Wiesman of the Washington State Department of Health at a Wednesday briefing for reporters. The patient is doing well in an isolation unit at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett, about 30 miles north of Seattle. The virus can cause coughing, fever, breathing difficulty and pneumonia 1208
