Two men were stabbed inside a Macy's store at the Mall of America in Minnesota just before closing Sunday night, the Star Tribune reports. The suspect was taken into custody following the incident. Police said it was an "interrupted theft" that led to the stabbings. According to police, the suspect waited until two men left the dressing room and then attempted to steal their belongings. The men interrupted the suspect, who pulled a knife and stabbed the victims. Other shoppers subdued the suspect until police arrived.The victims had non-life threatening injuries. 607

Two influential staffers at the Environmental Protection Agency are leaving the agency, CNN has learned.The security chief for EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt and the leader of the agency's Superfund cleanup program are both departing, according to an internal email and an agency statement, respectively.The exits come just days after Pruitt's management of the agency, including substantial spending on his personal security, travel, and office, came under scrutiny at back-to-back congressional hearings.Pasquale "Nino" Perrotta, the special agent in charge of the Pruitt security detail, announced his departure in a one-sentence email to colleagues on Tuesday morning."It has been a tremendous honor to serve as a special agent for the past 23 years and I wish you all a safe journey ahead as you move forward in both your professional and personal lives," Perrotta wrote.The security team overseen by Perrotta, a former Secret Service agent, has ballooned under Pruitt. Expensive and elaborate practices, such as flying in first class airplane seats, have drawn the attention of watchdogs like the EPA's own inspector general.Rep. Trey Gowdy, a South Carolina Republican, has indicated the House Oversight Committee, which he chairs, is interested in interviewing Perrotta about Pruitt's security and travel. Perrotta's predecessor was pushed aside after refusing to drive Pruitt around Washington using police lights and siren, three sources familiar with the situation told CNN.The EPA has repeatedly defended the spending and security practices as necessary given an increased level of threats against Pruitt. (KGTV) — Police are asking for the public's help to locate a missing man who suffers from Alzheimer's disease.Police say 87-year-old Romy Castro disappeared from his South Escondido home off Brotherton Rd. sometime between the evening of Dec. 19 and Dec. 20. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt, tan jacket, black pants, and black moccasins. He also wears black eye glasses.Castro is described as having black and gray hair, brown eyes, stands about 5-foot 3-inches tall, and weighs 130 pounds.Anyone with information regarding Castro's wearabouts is asked to call Escondido Police at 760-839-4970. 714

Two journalists from WYFF-TV based out of Greenville, South Carolina were killed Monday afternoon when a tree fell on their SUV while covering a storm that was causing flooding in the area, the station confirmed. WYFF anchor Mike McCormick and WYFF photojournalist Aaron Smeltzer were killed by the tree that landed on the SUV. The incident happened in Polk County, North Carolina. Tryon Fire Chief Geoffrey Tennant told WYFF that the SUV's engine was running when authorities reached the scene around 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The tree was reportedly 3 feet in diameter. Heavy rain in the area caused the roots of the tree to fail, Tennant told the station. "It personally affected me a little bit because I had done an interview with Mr. McCormick about 10 minutes before we got the call. And we had talked a little bit about how he wanted us to stay safe and I wanted him to stay safe and of course 10 or 15 minutes later we got the call and it was him and his photographer," Tennant said. "It's the first time I ever met either one of those two gentleman, but you feel a sense of responsibility to them."McCormick joined the station in 2007 as a reporter, and was promoted to anchor in 2014. Smeltzer joined the station in February.  1310
