(CNS) - The Beverly Hills City Council Tuesday evening approved an emergency ordinance banning house-to-house trick or treating on Halloween due to the coronavirus pandemic.The ordinance also prohibits providing candy or other Halloween treats or toys to any person outside their household on Oct. 31, car-to-car trick or treating and spraying shaving cream on others, except within their home or residence or licensed barbers on their customers."While I know this is disappointing news, especially to our children, we believe this is the responsible approach to protect the health of the community," said Mayor Lester Friedman.Violators of the restrictions will be subject to citation.City staff is working to develop virtual Halloween events that follow social distancing protocols, according to Keith Sterling, the city's public information manager.The city also announced the following streets will be closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic, other than to residents who live on them, between 6-10 p.m. Halloween night:-- Carmelita Avenue at Wilshire Boulevard-- Walden Drive southbound at Elevado Avenue-- Walden Drive at Santa Monica Boulevard-- Carmelita Avenue westbound at North Linden Drive-- The alley between North Linden Drive and Walden Drive from Santa Monica Boulevard to Elevado AvenueThe "Witch's House," long Beverly Hills' top Halloween attraction, is located at the southeast corner of Walden Drive and Carmelita Avenue, one block north of Santa Monica Boulevard and one block west of Linden Drive.As is customary on Halloween, parking restrictions will be in effect in the northeast portion of the city at the border with West Hollywood. 1690

Brad Bufanda, an actor best known for his roles in TV shows including "Veronica Mars" and "Co-Ed Confidential," has died after apparently taking his own life.Bufanda apparently jumped from a building in Los Angeles on Wednesday and died of "traumatic injuries," according to Variety.On Friday, TMZ reported that the 34-year-old actor left a suicide note that thanked some of the people in his life and mentioned his parents.Bufanda's manager told Variety she was "completely devastated for he was an extremely talented young actor and wonderful, caring human being." She said he'd been "reviving his career" and had just finished shooting two movies.He appeared in 23 movies and TV shows since 1995, according to IMDB. Bed Bath and Beyond said on Wednesday it plans on closing approximately 200 locations nationwide over the next two years.The news comes after the company temporarily closed 90% of its locations nationwide during the coronavirus pandemic, which resulted in a 77% drop of in-store sales in the spring quarter of 2020.Bed Bath and Beyond said the move to close 200 locations will right-size its real estate portfolio. BLOOMINGTON — The mother of an Indiana University football player who is battling COVID-19 wants everyone to realize the importance of wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.Brady Feeney is a freshman offensive lineman for the Hooisers from St. Louis. His mother, Debbie Rucker, took to Facebook Monday with a plea: Take COVID-19 seriously, wear a mask and exercise social distancing.Feeney is battling the virus as questions remain on whether the college football season will be played this fall. The Big Ten announced it plans on playing a conference-only schedule this fall. With her son's permission, Rucker shared his story:My son was negative when he got tested at the beginning of volunteer workouts. Within three weeks he and multiple others tested positive. His university has done everything right by shutting down workouts and retesting the whole team.Unfortunately this virus hit my son very hard compared to most of his teammates. Here was a kid in perfect health, great physical condition and due to the virus ended up going to the ER because of breathing issues.After 14 days of hell battling the horrible virus, his school did additional testing on all those that were positive. My son even received extra tests because he was one of the worst cases. Now we are dealing with possible heart issues!He is still experiencing additional symptoms and his blood work is indicating additional problems. Bottom line, even if your son’s schools do everything right to protect them, they CAN’T PROTECT THEM!!I pray my son recovers from this horrible virus and can lead a healthy normal life!! Football does not really matter when your child’s health is in jeopardy!! Think about it!!!
