KGTV - The Department of Fair Employment and Housing has filed a civil rights lawsuit on behalf of an Oceanside woman who says her life is threatened by the chemicals the North County Transit District uses for weeds.Judy Kane has multiple chemical sensitivities and says she has trouble breathing along with going outside anytime the NCTD sprays herbicides around the tracks near her house.“I call it shelter in place,” said Kane, “I cannot do my normal day to day activities.”Kane had a reasonable accommodation agreement made roughly 10 years ago via email with NCTD and the agency used to weed wack the four block row near her house instead of using chemicals.However, at the end of 2016 NCTD began spraying again, dissolving their agreement.The lawsuit is asking NCTD to stop using the chemicals in the area around Kane’s home and also pay Kane’s expenses from medical episodes which occurred after the spraying began.NCTD did not return 10News request for comment. 977

JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man was arrested Tuesday morning after reportedly stabbing a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department K-9 and spraying deputies with bear spray. Deputies were called to the 15000 block of Skyline Truck Trail in Jamul around 10 a.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a man walking around a vehicle talking to himself. When deputies arrived, they made contact with the man, identified as Richard Lechuga, 29, of San Diego, sitting in a vehicle. When deputies approached Lechuga, he reportedly sprayed three of them with bear spray through an open window. Deputies say Lechuga then brandished what appeared to be a knife and a handgun and stabbed a K-9 in the head and face. Deputies were able to take Lechuga into custody after using less-lethal shotgun rounds, pepper balls and a Taser. The K-9 was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The deputies were also treated on scene and Lechuga was taken to the hospital for treatment. Lechuga was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, assaulting a police animal and resisting arrest. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ten people were asked to quarantine after a potential COVID-19 exposure at the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener, the Kansas City, Missouri, Health Department announced Thursday.According to the department, one person who watched the game from the group's box tested positive for the virus one day after the game.The department said everyone who was around the individual was notified and have agreed to quarantine.The Chiefs said staff who interacted with the person who tested positive wore personal protective equipment.On the field, so far every player and coach on the Chiefs and the Houston Texans teams have tested negative for the virus.One Arrowhead Stadium groundskeeper also tested positive.The Chiefs said in a statement Thursday morning they are cooperating with the health department."Compliance with the protocols remains a key component to making this plan effective. (KGTV) - A Monterey Cypress known as the “Dr. Seuss Tree” or “The Lorax Tree” toppled over early Thursday morning in La Jolla.The unique shaped tree has been theorized to be the inspiration for the colorful trees in “The Lorax,” written in 1971 by Theodor Geisel, known best as "Dr. Seuss."Geisel lived in La Jolla from 1948 until he died in 1991. The tree is located in Ellen Browning Scripps Park near La Jolla Cove.The tree had become a tourist destination for Seuss fans around the world, with its long, drooping branches and leaves.As of Thursday night the tree was still lying on the ground. KEARNY MESA (CNS) - A man armed with a BB gun robbed a Korean restaurant in Kearny Mesa, San Diego police said.The robbery took place just before 10 p.m. Friday at Woomiok, located in the 3800 block of Convoy Street, SDPD said.The thief, allegedly a former employee of Woomiok's, stole 0 from the register, SDPD said. While reaching over to grab the money from the register, the employee he threatened with the gun, grabbed it. During the struggle for the gun the suspect dropped it and ran from the restaurant heading southeast through the parking lot.The robber was described as Hispanic. He stood 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed about 135 pounds, SDPD said. The thief was wearing all black clothes and had a black backpack.No injuries were reported. 764
