The San Francisco Police Department said on Tuesday that investigators now suspect a freelance journalist who had refused to reveal the identity of a confidential source took part in a conspiracy to steal a police report on the death of a public defender.Police Chief Bill Scott said at a press conference that there is a criminal investigation into whether that journalist, Bryan Carmody, was an "active participant in the commission of the criminal acts beyond his role with the news media.""Mr. Carmody was and continues to be viewed by investigators as a possible co-conspirator in this theft rather than a passive recipient of the stolen document," Scott said. At the age of 63, she has died in Arkansas.The Little Rock Zoo announced the death of its resident of over 31 years Thursday night. Gorillas like her typically live to be about 40 in the wild and 50 in human care, according to the National Zoo, but Trudy outlived them by more than a decade.Brought to the Little Rock Zoo in 1988 from Buffalo with her breeding partner, Ollie, the two were the first gorillas exhibited in Arkansas, according to the zoo.Most gorillas in zoos now are born in captivity, but Trudy was born in the wild. The US will dramatically expand its efforts to enforce a rule that denies funding to overseas aid groups and health organizations that provide or promote abortion services, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Tuesday.The move will undermine a broad array of health programs focused on HIV, malaria, maternal and child health, and likely result in more unsafe abortions, aid groups said."We will refuse to provide assistance to groups who provide funding to other groups" that provide or discuss abortion with clients, Pompeo said in an announcement at the State Department.
