He makes his living as a glassblower and certainly knows what it's like to feel the heat."When it comes to August, it will get to 125 degrees in here," says Stone, referencing the studio where he creates his work. However, he is used to it, as he has been blowing glass for quite some time, in fact, he says he was destined to be a glassblower "I always like to start by telling people that I was born in Flushing Hospital in Flushing, New York. I was delivered by Dr. Glass," Stone says.James became interested in glassblowing in the 1980s, after taking some classes at Palomar College. He said it didn't take long before he was hooked."It's the flame, the flame, the flame is life, and the first time you get around the flame you can't get away from it," Stone said.His creations are simply mind-blowing. The colors and shapes are all beautiful works of art. "When I began in 1986, if you didn't know the formula, to take sand and then make sand into glass, you didn't blow glass," he says.But just like many other professions, the glassblowing industry has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic."It's broken my heart , oh my god it's broken my heart. COVID has changed my business, it's changed the way we do business. We usually have classes of 6 to 10 people, but because of COVID, those classes are all gone," said Stone.So in order to keep his business alive, Stone & Glass has started a "Collectors Club.""This is the first edition," James says while holding up two drinking glasses. Even as the COVID-19 pandemic rages on and the Trump administration continues to contest the results of the 2020 presidential election, the White House plans to hold its annual turkey pardoning ceremony next week, according to CNN and Fox News.President Donald Trump will reportedly take part in the annual tradition on Tuesday afternoon when he will issue a formal pardon to two Iowa turkeys - Corn and Cob.The public can vote for which turkey they'd like to see President Trump pardon and receive the title National Thanksgiving Turkey.According to The White House's Facebook page, Corn and Cob will stay at The Willard until the annual White House Turkey Pardon on Tuesday.In the past, the Turkey Pardoning Ceremony at the White House has drawn a crowd of spectators at the Rose Garden. It's unclear if the 2020 ceremony will be held in front of spectators.Trump has largely laid low since Election Day. He's held just three on-camera events since Nov. 3, one of which was a Veteran's Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, at which he did not address reporters. According to CNN, outside of playing a few rounds of golf on the weekends, Trump has not left the White House in several weeks.Following Tuesday's ceremony, the turkeys will live out their lives at Iowa State University. Last year, Trump pardoned two turkeys, "Bread" and "Butter," both of whom were sent to live at Virginia Tech following the ceremony.Legend has it that the first president to issue a pardon to a turkey was Abraham Lincoln, who did so at the request of his son. ERIE, Colo. — A woman says the man she met online and dated for a month-and-a-half robbed her of thousands of dollars worth of valuables, tried to pawn them for cash, and then disappeared. Police have now issued a warrant for his arrest.“I let him into my world completely and I was completely betrayed,” Michelle Cohagan said.She met Joshua Law on the site Plenty of Fish. They dated for a few weeks and became close, with Law spending a lot of time at her Erie home. One night, Cohagan noticed that two of her digital cameras and her roommate’s GoPro camera went missing. A few days later, Law disappeared.“I haven’t seen or heard from him,” she said.Law originally told her he had plans to close on a house nearby. Then he claimed he had to fly across the country for a family emergency. The realtor of the home was the one to tell Cohagan that Law wasn’t actually buying the home. That’s when she noticed even more things were gone.“My grandmother’s wedding ring, a mother’s ring, pearls my father had given me,” she said.“She had about ,500 worth of items between her and her roommate that had been stolen,” Erie Police Department Commander Michael Haefele said.Now Erie PD are involved. They’ve been able to track Law and the missing items to multiple local pawn shops.“We were able to get a signed arrest warrant for the suspect in the case,” Haefele said.“He had been taking and pawning my things since pretty much two weeks in,” Cohagan added. “I think he’s a sociopath. I think he’s a con artist.”She said that she’s spoken to at least two other women who say they dated Law. The stories of falling in love and being ripped off were similar.Police do not know where Law is at the moment. The warrant for his arrest is out, and local towns and law enforcement agencies are aware. Meanwhile, they have been able to locate some of Cohagan’s things including her cameras, expensive purses, and a watch. Fans of Nutella are going absolutely nuts after the brand changed its recipe.Nutella said in a post on its German Facebook page on Tuesday that it was "fine tuning" its recipe. It said the addition of more powdered milk increased the spread's sugar content.The brand's U.S. Twitter page also confirmed the recipe had changed. The news was met with howls of rage on the internet, where loyal customers professed their love for the old recipe."OMG!! They are changing the recipe of #Nutella!!!," wrote one Twitter user. "NOOOOOOOO HOW DARE THEY!! Leave the sugar & coco alone!!!"The recipe change was first publicized by the Hamburg Consumer Protection Center, which said last week that the tweak had made the chocolate spread's color lighter.The group said that, according to the ingredient list printed on Nutella packaging, the proportion of skimmed milk powder had increased to 8.7% from 7.5%."Cocoa has slipped back in the list of ingredients," it said. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - An Escondido CrossFit class got quite a nasty surprise when they went outside for their workout, Wednesday. They found human feces.The owner of Boombox CrossFit North, Brittani Ramirez, said she was in shock when she heard over the phone, "I didn't believe her; I was like no, we get dogs back there all the time, like I'm sure it was just a stray dog."When she looked back at their security footage, it showed a man walking up to the back door, wiggling the handle, then walking to the corner of the lot, pulling down his pants and defecating.The footage showed it was 3:30 p.m., just an hour before class started."One of my amazing members Lacey stepped in, she gloved up, got some trash bags, she got some bleach, and Katie, one of my coaches, the two of them handled the business," Ramirez said.A health concern for everyone involved. Ramirez said this isn't her first unpleasant experience with homeless, she said they've been stopping in over the three years Boombox has been open."They walk in and they see it's obviously very different in here but still a lot of them are mentally ill or on drugs so they don't quite understand," Ramirez said before she bought the building, it was a redevelopment center for homeless and convicts. The former facility was there for more than 30 years.Ramirez hopes the city can do something to help them. At the gym, she's planning to lock the gate each day to make sure there is no more unwanted surprises.The Deputy City Manager, William Wolfe, said the city's reunited 50-60 homeless people with their families who are now caring for them. He said he is meeting with local business owners Thursday night to talk about forming a homeless task force. He said the city already has a Quality of Life Team, made up of local leaders to address these issues and seek out solutions. If a business owner has an issue with homeless, Wolfe said they should call him.Ramirez opened Boombox after rediscovering her love for fitness. She played basketball, volleyball and softball in her youth and after having children she wanted to rekindle that fire. Her gym is named after their empowering music that is often flowing through the open doors.Ramirez said the gym is a labor of love, adding members helped her paint the gym and build equipment. 2313
