Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is offering up several tips to help travelers avoid a nightmare at the security checkpoint during the week of Halloween at the airport.TSA said when it comes to masks, they ask that you refrain from wearing a Halloween mask until after you made it through the checkpoint screening. They ask that you wear a face-covering that's used to help stop the spread of COVID-19. TSA officers will ask you to remove your mask, temporarily, just so they can verify your identity at the travel document checking podium.When it comes to wearing a costume, TSA recommends you wear it after you go through the checkpoint because it could trigger an alarm, which would lead to you getting patted down.TSA also recommends that you put "realistic replica props" like pitchforks, chainsaws, brooms, or axes in your checked bag. The world responded by asking “why”, according to the top global Google searches this year released this week.The search platform says “why” questions were searched more in 2020 than in any other year. With questions like “why can’t I sleep,” “why social distancing,” and “why is it called COVID-19.”Google says “insomnia” was searched globally more in 2020 than ever before.Here in the U.S., the uncertainty of the election, coronavirus and the economy drove a lot of the search inquiries. Google separated results based on general topics in their annual report. The top five news-related searches were “election results,” “coronavirus,” “stimulus checks,” “unemployment,” and “Iran,” with “stock market” and “murder hornet” also making the top ten.And people wanted more information, with questions like “coronavirus symptoms,” “COVID-19 testing sites near me,” and sarching the definitions of “pandemic,” “Juneteenth,” and “asymptomatic.”Americans also went to Google to find how to keep themselves busy during the coronavirus pandemic, with queries like “recipes for Sourdough bread,” “how to cut men’s hair at home,” “dating during coronavirus,” “how to make a mask,” “where to buy toilet paper,” and searches for “virtual field trips” and “virtual museum tours.”Joe Biden was the top person Americans typed into Google search, followed by Kim Jong Un, Kamala Harris, Jacob Blake and Ryan Newman.Searches for Tom Hanks and Kobe Bryant were also high on Google’s list; Hanks contracted COVID-19 earlier this year and Bryant died tragically in a helicopter crash in January.People were also moved to help. Thursday marks National Coming Out Day — an LGBTQ holiday that encourages young queer people to be comfortable with their sexuality and live an open lifestyle.2018 marks the 30th anniversary of the first National Coming Out Day, first celebrated in 1988. According to the Human Rights Campaign, the day was started by gay activists Robert Eichberg and Jean O'Leary. Recognized by all 50 states, the day is celebrated each year on the anniversary of the Second National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, which took place on Oct. 11, 1987.As a psychologist, Eichberg wrote extensively on the act of "coming out" to friends, family and coworkers. in 1978, he established "The Experience," a community workshop in Los Angeles that encouraged young  LGBTQ people to live an openly gay lifestyle among friends and family.According to Eichberg, when LGBTQ people lived an open lifestyle it made their friends and family more likely to be accepting of queer lifestyles. They have been in business since 1818, so you would think they would have weather prognostication down to a science. The folks at the Farmers' Almanac have issued their forecast for the upcoming winter, and for many, purchasing a snowblower might not be a bad investment. The Farmers Almanac predicts that the Central US, Midwest and Northeast will see a cold, brutal winter. For those who live in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado and to the east, the almanac calls for "teeth-chattering cold" and "plentiful snow." For those in the Midwest, expect "biting cold" and snow this winter. And those in the Northeast should expect a "cold and white" winter. The West Coast should see a more average winter, with greater than average rain in the Pacific Northwest. While it will remain cold in Texas, the Southeast should be closer to average, with above-average rainfall. If you are hoping for a more modest winter, you will like the forecast from the Old Farmers' Almanac. Old Farmers' Almanac is suggesting a mild winter for most of the United States, with the exception being in the Southwest. The Rockies, while still mild, should expect a snowy winter. How these publications come up with said forecasts are a bit of a mystery, much like KFC's secret recipe. "we derive our weather forecasts from a secret formula that was devised by the founder of this Almanac, Robert B. Thomas, in 1792. Thomas believed that weather on Earth was influenced by sunspots, which are magnetic storms on the surface of the Sun," the Old Farmers' Almanac says on its website.  1616

Travelers heading to the Caribbean, Latin America, or Hawaii on American Airlines will now have the opportunity to participate in its COVID-19 pre-flight testing program."Our initial pre-flight testing has performed remarkably well, including terrific customer feedback about the ease and availability of testing options," said Robert Isom, President of American Airlines said in a press release on Monday. "This next phase is an invigorating step forward in American's relentless pursuit of reopening international travel and driving industry recovery while delivering a safe and positive travel experience."Beginning Nov. 16, passengers traveling from Miami, Florida, to Belize, Grenada, and St. Lucia will be offered pre-flight COVID-19 testing with a convenient at-home testing option.American stated travelers to each country will have three options when it comes to testing using an at-home test from LetsGetChecked:Belize: Travelers over the age of 6 must complete testing within 72 hours of departure.Grenada: Passengers must complete testing within seven days before their departure date.St. Lucia: Anyone over the age of 5 must complete testing within seven days of departure."Customers cannot board flights to St. Lucia without presenting a negative test result. Pre-arrival registration is mandatory; customers should visit stlucia.org for the latest information on travel restrictions and quarantine requirements," American stated.American said travelers could expect results within an average of 48 hours.Starting Monday, American said customers traveling from Chicago, Los Angeles, and Phoenix will now be able to use LetsGetChecked at-home tests.Travelers must complete their testing within 72 hours of the final leg of their departure, American stated.Customers should expect results within 48 hours."As of this announcement, travelers who present a negative test upon arrival will be exempt from the state's 14-day quarantine," American said. 1968
