(KGTV) - Loved ones are making a gut-wrenching plea for tips after a hit-and-run crash that left a man on life support, days before his wedding day."I don't know what to do without him," said Sami Johnson, the daughter of Steven Johnson"I'm heartbroken. He was my everything," said Karlene Moen, Johnson's fiancee.Johnson - a father of six and a grandfather - was riding his motorcycle to work at a Lakeside trucking company Friday when he crashed around 5:30 a.m. on southbound Highway 67 just past Willows Road. His first call was to his fiancee."He sounded hurt. He sounded scared, and he was pissed off," said Moen.He posted photos of his injured leg on Facebook. He told Moen a woman in a car cut him off, causing him to crash."He said, 'We locked eyes. She knows I was there ... She just left me and left me laying in the road,'" said Moen. Soon after the accident, he developed chest pains. He was rushed into surgery with a torn aorta. On Sunday morning, Johnson went into cardiac arrest. He was revived but suffered severe brain damage. He was placed on life support. Moen says the he will be taken off life support in the coming days, and his organs will be donated.His wedding planned for Saturday will now be a 'Celebration of Life' service."He'll never see me in my wedding dress that I bought especially for him," said a tearful Moen.She's hoping the driver that caused the crash will be identified.We just want justice. We want her to know she killed him and left him there," said Moen."Who could leave my dad in the road? Twitter is about to get more words -- a lot more.The company announced on Tuesday it is doubling how many characters users can cram into a tweet.Most tweets will now fit 280 characters, up from 140. The new limit will roll out to Twitter users in almost all 40 languages Twitter supports.In late September, Twitter began a test of 280-character tweets with a small group of users.Like many Twitter changes, some users complained about the move.Interestingly, Twitter said that after the novelty of tweeting more characters wore off, most people in the test stopped tweeting the full length.According to the company, only 5% of tweets sent from people in the 280-character test group were longer than 140 characters, and just 2% were over 190 characters.The new character length won't apply to Japanese, Korean or Chinese-language tweets. Those languages can convey twice as much information in less space, so tweets will remain at 140 characters, Twitter said.Of course, the change means America's highest-profile Twitter user, President Trump, will have more space. Twitter cofounder Biz Stone had said the prolific Twitter user was not in the test group.The move modifies a fundamental aspect of Twitter. Aside from the test, the social network's character limit hasn't changed since the company launched in 2006.The 140-character length wasn't a random choice: Twitter's founders wanted tweets to fit in a text message, which can only hold 160 characters. So Twitter chose 140 characters for the tweet, and 20 characters for the user name.During the 280-character test, some users argued Twitter should focus less on the length of the tweets and more on the content. The family will be working with an immigration attorney to bring Bakala to California.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A father of seven who migrated to America to flee persecution in Africa is set to be deported Friday night. Constantin Bakala was imprisoned in the Republic of Congo after supporting the wrong political power. Police allegedly raped his wife, killing their unborn child, robbed their businesses, killed their dog, and tried to poison the entire family. Bakala escaped from prison and took his family on a journey to America. On the way, their boat sank, and some of the children almost died. Once they got to America, Bakala was sent to Georgia. The rest of the family stayed in San Diego. Bakala went before a judge in Georgia who is known for being strict on asylum seekers. The judge ruled that he be deported. Meanwhile, Bakala's family in San Diego was granted asylum.Thursday, the day before Bakala was set to be deported, the family met in front of the federal courthouse to ask for help. Bakala’s wife Annie said, “I’m asking for your help because you know the laws and you are a champion of our protection. I’m asking for your strength because I have none left.”St. Luke’s Episcopal Church joined the family in their fight. Pastor Colin Mathewson said, “Bakala will die if we don’t help him. This is a life and death matter.”After the rally, the group took 500 signatures up to the federal ICE office. Congressman Juan Vargas has been very helpful in getting a stay for Bakala. However, the first stay will run out Friday. TUCSON, AZ - The United States Customs and Border Patrol says several agents were assaulted in two different incidents on Tuesday.Both incidents happened near the border, west of Tucson.In the first incident, agents were attempting to stop a human smuggling operation involving four male suspects. During the arrest attempt, one of the men became combative, according to Border Patrol.The 25-year-old Guatemalan national allegedly threw dirt at an agent’s face and swung a belt with a large buckle on it at an agent. After being taken into custody, the suspect also allegedly spit in an agent’s face.The three other suspects, including two illegal aliens and an Arizona man, were also arrested.In the second incident, Border Patrol says an agent was assaulted while attempting to arrest an illegal alien west of Three Points. The agent and a canine partner tracked the 36-year-old Guatemalan national into a desolate desert area. The man became combative and hit the agent several times, according to Border Patrol. The agent eventually took the man into custody. The suspect involved in the second assault was previously removed from the country in May for immigration violations. One agent was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and has been released.Border Patrol did not indicate which incident that agent was involved in. 1360
