Inmates in Iowa's correctional system are suing the state to strike down a recently passed law that has banned pornography in prison, CNN affiliate KCCI reported. Iowa attempted to pass a similar law 30 years ago, but a federal judge struck the law down for being too vague. One expert told KCCI that the new law is more specific, and will likely withstand judicial review. "Prisoners generally have rights to access -- absent some incredibly dangerous person -- (including) reading materials," Drake University Constitutional Law Center Director Mark Kende. "And they have constitutional rights, even though they're in prison, the rights are diminished, but they have them."The law eliminates both viewing porn within individual jail cells, and in pornography reading rooms. Among the lawsuit, 58 inmates have joined the lawsuit, and are also asking the state to pay them ,000 each in damages.  931

Interior Department Secretary Ryan Zinke signed an order Friday morning aiming to expand access for hunters and fishers to public lands and monuments.In what is being described as an "expansive" secretarial order, Zinke's rule would ultimately allow broader access across the board to hunters and fishers on public lands managed by the Interior Department, according to the order.A section of the order also amends the national monument management plan to include or expand hunting and fishing opportunities to the "extent practicable under the law."The order cites a 2007 executive order from President George W. Bush to "facilitate the expansion and enhancement of hunting opportunities and the management of game species and their habitat." It directs agencies to to create a report and plan to streamline how best to enhance and expand access to hunting and fishing on public lands.The Interior Department oversees national parks, wildlife refuges and other federal lands.The secretarial order also aims to expand educational outreach for hunting and fishing to "under served" communities such as minorities and veterans as well as increase volunteer access to federal lands."Today's secretarial order is the latest example of how the Trump administration is actively moving to support hunting and other forms of outdoor recreation on public lands," Zinke said in a statement."Hunting and fishing is a cornerstone of the American tradition and hunters and fishers of America are the backbone of land and wildlife conservation," he said.Interior said Obama administration policies were too restrictive."Through management plans made under the previous administration, which did not appreciate access to hunting and target shooting like this administration does, access and usage has been restricted," said Interior spokeswoman Heather Swift.Zinke's rule will not have to go through a formal rule-making process.It is the second major action from Interior in the last few weeks.In August, Zinke recommended shrinking the boundaries of a handful of national monuments, but stopped short of suggesting the elimination of any federal designations following a review ordered by President Donald Trump.At Trump's direction, Zinke earlier this year launched a review of 27 national monuments, a controversial move that could undo protections for millions of acres of federal lands, as well as limits on oil and gas or other energy production. It started out as a way to help her brother, and now, it's become so much more than that. Now one sister's efforts have made an impact far more than she could ever imagine.In their household, twins Sarah and Jacob Greichen are both included and involved. But one day after school a few years ago, Greichen realized outside the walls of their home, it was a different story."My brother got in and he was crying," Greichen said. "And he was saying, 'Mom I have no friends why don't I have any friends.'"Jacob has autism, and exclusion took its toll."He actually stopped talking completely," Greichen recalled. "He regressed, he went from probably a fourth, fifth, sixth-grade level to first-grade level and it was a really hard time for my family."Greichen decided to do something. And at 13 years old, she founded the non-profit Score A Friend, which builds clubs for students with and without intellectual disabilities in schools and communities."Every single kid meets friends through school or though activities and sports," Greichen said. "And Score A Friend is creating those opportunities for everyone. So that they can meet friends and then those friendships can go from school to home."Clubs can be focused on sports or electives, and one club even got the whole school involved with score a friend week."They talk about inclusion," Greichen said. "What unified sports are what person first language is what do you say when you walk up to a person with a disability and what is the right way to act."Now, Score A Friend has gone national, spreading to more than a dozen schools across the country, including at least two colleges."I mean now we have commercials and billboards out which is crazy!" Greichen exclaimed. "I mean, I never would have guessed this from the beginning."But for Greichen, her brother is the true measure of success."Jacob finally started talking again," Greichen said. "He started playing sports again he started talking to other students and he actually had people to sit with at lunch."Greichen sees Score A Friend becoming a movement.
