LUCIE, Florida — A 3-year-old child is in critical condition after being shot during a road-rage incident in Port St. Lucie overnight.Port St. Lucie police say the child was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a shooting that stemmed from a road-rage incident at approximately 2 a.m. local time Monday morning in Port St. Lucie.The child was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital and is in critical condition.The suspect vehicle is a black, newer model, four-door sedan. President Donald Trump has pulled most of his advertising from TV over the past week, ceding the airwaves to Democratic rival Joe Biden, who is currently outspending him by more than 10-to-1. That's according to data from the ad tracking firm CMAG/Kantar. It is unusual for a White House contender to mostly go dark on TV with the election just over two months away. The move comes after the Trump campaign recently acknowledged it was trying to conserve money. That's allowed Biden an opportunity to communicate an unfiltered message to voters without competing advertising. (KGTV) -- A local business and organization are coming together to take steps toward better protecting Alzheimer patients by providing free gun locks.Alzheimer’s San Diego and Poway Weapons and Gear have started the first of its kind program regarding what to do when it’s time to lock up your guns.Eugenia Welch is the President of Alzheimer’s San Diego and spoke to 10News. "As we were working further through this program, there was an incident locally, a gentleman shot his daughter because he didn’t recognize her as a daughter he thought she was an intruder. Luckily she’s fine but that could have been a really bad situation," she said. When families are helping their loved ones who have been diagnosed, they often forget about the guns in the home and how dangerous they could be. "If someone is retired military or retired police officer, they’ve probably had guns in their home their whole life and didn’t even think about it” Welch says.This program gives free gun locks to families. It started over the summer and so far they have given out 100 locks.Poway Weapons and Gear has donated 500 locks and tells 10News they will continue to donate as need grows.The program hits close to home for the business because the owner’s grandmother was also diagnosed with the disease.With the locks on guns they become completely unusable, preventing the cylinder from going back in with the rounds to allow the gun to be fired.While the ideal situation is for the guns to be completely removed, the organization says this is the next best option. 1610

President Donald Trump plans to announce his Supreme Court nominee on Saturday. He has said it will be a woman and she will be conservative.If the nominee goes through, it would give conservative justices a 6-3 majority over their more liberal counterparts.That sets up talk about abortion, but the Roe v. Wade debate isn't all about the Supreme Court.“Enough lower courts have not decided what they think about this,” said Carol Sanger, a professor at the Columbia law school. “We, the Supreme Court, doesn't like to lead on a particular issue until the lower courts who have trials and so on have thought about it.”Under a conservative majority, the Supreme Court has ruled on an abortion case. Conservative Chief Justice John Roberts sided with a ruling that kept abortion clinics open by not requiring abortion doctors to have nearby hospital admitting privileges.The high court already ruled on a similar case out of Texas.“There is a special doctrine called stare decisis, which means when you have a case and it’s like a previous case, look to that previous case and say how did that come out,” said Sanger. “And unless there is a very, very strong reason to change that decision, you follow precedent, you follow what happened the last time this issue came up.”Sanger says enough lower courts have to rule and be split on the decision to make it to the Supreme Court.The Supreme Court would need to decide it wants to take up Roe v. Wade before courts before them. Sanger believes that's unlikely to happen.“It seems pretty clear that he doesn't want to be known as the guy who had Roe knocked out under his chief justice-ship,” said Sanger.Both Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch said they accepted Roe v. Wade as the law of the land during their nomination hearings.Sanger says just because the justices on the court change, it doesn't mean they change laws all over again. 1887

President Donald Trump has told his longtime friend and sometimes lawyer Rudy Giuliani that he’s “going to beat” the coronavirus.The New York Post says Trump called Giuliani on Saturday to assure him he’s doing fine following a sobering assessment from the White House chief of staff.Trump reportedly told Giuliani on the call: “I feel I could get out of here right now. But they’re telling me there can always be a backstep with this disease. But I feel I could go out and do a rally."Trump also reportedly explained that he continued to engage in a high-risk activity despite the pandemic because he’s the “president of the United States.
