SAN DIEGO (AP) — California health officials have warned that a severe flu season could overwhelm hospitals that also are dealing with COVID-19. California Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Mark Ghaly joined the heads of the state's hospital and medical associations to urge people to get flu vaccines now. Ghaly said while the state has seen progress in recent weeks with a drop in coronavirus cases, officials expect an uptick as the economy continues to open. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 64-year-old taco truck owner was robbed at gunpoint Friday evening in the Linda Vista neighborhood.The victim was cleaning his truck at 6800 Linda Vista Rd. about 8:30 p.m. when the suspect walked up and demanded money, according to San Diego Police Department Officer Robert Heims.As the victim turned around, he saw the suspect pointing a gun at him and the suspect again demanded money, Heims said.The victim gave up an unknown amount of cash and the suspect ran off, last seen southbound in the 6800 block of Linda Vista Road, Heims said.The suspect was described as a 20-year-old Hispanic man, 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build, wearing blue jeans and a gray hoodie with a gray bandana around his face, Heims said.Anyone with information was asked to call San Diego Police Robbery Division detectives at 619-531-2299 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 889

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A bicyclist riding with a group of cyclists was seriously injured Saturday when he was struck by a motorcycle in Pacific Beach, police said.The collision happened at 3:14 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Reed Avenue, according to Officer John Buttle of the San Diego Police Department.A 23-year-old man riding a 2017 Harley Davidson Sportster was southbound in the 4200 block of Ingraham as a group of cyclists were eastbound in the 1500 block of Reed Avenue, Buttle said.The cyclists entered the intersection and the motorcycle struck one of them, a 49-year-old man, the officer said.The motorcyclist suffered road rash to his right leg, Buttle said. The bicyclist suffered a broken left femur and broken ribs. Medics took the cyclist to a hospital.Officers from the SDPD traffic division were investigating the collision, Buttle said.Ingraham was closed in both directions at Thomas and Oliver avenues and was expected to last a couple of hours, the SDPD said. 1012
