SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Vietnam veteran who lived on the streets for 20 years is leaving behind a legacy of color and love."It's healing. And also for his legacy. I think he would be so happy that people are seeing his art," said Mary Anne Nucci.Nucci's brother, Roger Francis Reed, was drafted into the Marine Corps when he was 18-years-old, serving two years in Vietnam. "He had a tough time in civilian life. War, being that young, was tough on him," Nucci. Nucci says those years were hard on her. "Very difficult, very sad, just sad. Yeah, you just hate to see that."But after 20 years, Reed was ready to accept help. He moved into low-income housing and got benefits from the VA."That's when he started painting and painting and painting. And that was his passion," said Nucci. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- According to a recently-released autopsy, a combination of cocaine, alcohol and blunt chest impact caused a man to die during a punching game in March downtown.The medical examiner ruled the death of 27-year-old Corey Poole an accident Monday. According to authorities, Poole went out drinking at Jolt’n Joe’s downtown just before 1 a.m. with friends.Police said Poole and one of his friends then decided to have a punching contest. Poole and his friend then started “consensually sparring” and punching one another in the chest.RELATED: Man killed in Gaslamp Quarter punching game identifiedIt was then, according to police, that Poole fell to the ground and became unresponsive. Poole was taken to the hospital where he later died.Poole’s friend was also taken to the hospital for chest pain following the incident. 850

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A South Bay high school was placed on lockdown while police searched a vehicle outside the campus.San Diego Police placed Southwest High School under lockdown while officers searched a vehicle they stopped on Hollister Street, just outside campus.Police said the traffic stop was a result of someone reporting they saw a gun. The suspected vehicle was located and pulled over.Southwest High was placed on lockdown as a precaution and police said the campus wasn't being threatened - the traffic stop just happened to occur outside the school property.Police found a BB gun inside the vehicle. No shots were fired and no one was injured.The lockdown was later lifted.Police said they encourage anyone who thinks they see a weapon to report it to authorities. 799

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Amid ongoing dockless scooter injuries, Mayor Kevin Faulconer Thursday proposed new rules for the devices.The new rules would force companies that provide the dockless scooters to educate riders, provide data to the city, enforce speed limits and purchase permits.Riders would also be required to sign away any of the city’s legal liability should something happen.Speed limits would need to be enforced by the companies using “geofencing technology,” Faulconer said. Some of the most popular areas for the scooters, including the Pacific and Mission Beach boardwalks, would be areas required to have speed limits. The list below shows all the areas where speed limits would be enforced:  726
