LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Adult film star Ron Jeremy pleaded not guilty Monday to 20 additional rape and other sexual assault charges involving 12 more women and a teenage girl in attacks dating back to 2004, bringing the number of his alleged victims to 17.In June, Jeremy, 67, entered a not guilty plea in response to allegations that he raped three women and sexually assaulted another in separate attacks going back to 2014.The District Attorney's Office amended the complaint Monday against the defendant -- whose real name is Ronald Jeremy Hyatt -- to include a total of eight forcible rapes and lewd conduct with a 15-year-old girl, among other counts.Jeremy is being held in lieu of .6 million bail, despite an earlier defense request to lower the amount, and was ordered back to court Oct. 28, when a date is expected to be set for a preliminary hearing.If convicted on all counts, the porn star could face up to 250 years to life in prison.Prosecutors said the victims range in age from 15 to 54 and that the teen was assaulted at a party she attended in Santa Clarita. The most recent allegation was made by a 21-year-old woman who alleged that Jeremy sexually assaulted her on New Year's Day outside a business in Hollywood.A half-dozen of the other alleged assaults happened inside a West Hollywood bar the defendant frequented and another took place in the bar's parking lot, according to prosecutors.The defendant is accused of raping a 25-year-old woman at a home in West Hollywood in May 2014. Residents in parts of Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties could hear a series of sonic booms following liftoff of the Falcon 9 rocket. Farther south in Los Angeles County, residents might have caught a glimpse of the rocket's smoky trail as it powered the satellite into orbit, then reversed course and returned to Vandenberg for recovery and use in future missions.The launch was scheduled for 9:17 a.m., and SpaceX tweeted a video showing the successful liftoff at 9:19 a.m.At 9:28 a.m., the company tweeted that ``Falcon 9's first stage has landed on Landing Zone 4,'' and deployment of Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich was confirmed at 10:18 a.m.The rocket carries NASA's Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich satellite, which will join a nearly 30-year project to measure global sea-surface height, while also providing atmospheric data that officials say will improve weather forecasts, climate modeling and hurricane tracking. LONDON — The British government says it won’t be using 50 million face masks it bought during a scramble to secure protective equipment for medics at the height of the coronavirus outbreak because of safety concerns.The masks were part of a 252 million pound (2 million) contract the government signed with investment firm Ayanda Capital in April. Papers filed in a court case reveal that the masks will not be distributed because they have ear loops rather than head loops and may not fit tightly enough.The government says another 150 million masks supplied by Ayanda are unaffected but are still being tested.The papers are part of a lawsuit against the Conservative government by campaigning groups the Good Law Project and EveryDoctor.As the coronavirus outbreak accelerated across the U.K. in March, it became clear that the country lacked sufficient stockpiles of masks, gloves, gowns and other protective gear for health care workers and nursing home staff.
