Thanks to an iconic pop music superstar, the world's loneliest elephant has a new home and on Monday started his new life at an elephant sanctuary.According to the Los Angeles Times, Cher was first alerted to Kaavan in 2016, who was living in dire conditions at a zoo in Pakistan on Twitter.USA Today reported Kaavan - now 36 - was gifted to Pakistan by the Sri Lankan government when he was 1 in 1985 and lost his only elephant companion Saheli in 2012.According to Cher's charity, Free the Wild, in July, a Pakistani High Court decided to relocate Kaavan to a different sanctuary, and the Marghazar Zoo was closed. The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board then determined that Kaavan be moved to an elephant sanctuary in Cambodia.On Monday, through the Eric S. Margolis Foundation, who donated the Kaavan’s flight, the elephant was transported from Pakistan to Cambodia. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Education Association announced a lawsuit against the state's emergency order that forces districts to physically reopen public schools five days a week in August, despite concerns from parents and educators regarding the spread of COVID-19.The lawsuit was filed Monday in state circuit court in Miami against Gov. DeSantis, Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran, the Florida Board of Education and Miami-Dade mayor Carlos Gimenez.The lawsuit contends that ordering a return to on-site instruction at public schools is a violation of Florida’s Constitution and requests a declaration that the state defendants’ actions and inactions are unconstitutional.The suit also seeks a declaration from the court that the state's demands are "arbitrary and capricious" and seeks to prohibit the enforcement of the order.RELATED: Florida education commissioner calls school reopen lawsuit 'frivolous'The FEA contends the mandate does not allow districts enough time for effective planning, even when it comes to offering distance-learning options."As many districts were preparing to implement hybrid education models and online instruction initiatives, just weeks before the start of the school calendar, they now find themselves forced to crowd millions of students into schools where physical distancing, although critical, becomes virtually impossible," the lawsuit reads.View Lawsuit BelowThe state's largest teachers union also launched a petition to Gov. It can be a desk, the kitchen table, or an empty guest room.You also want to get them involved in making the space functional."Whether that’s adding some posters that inspire them or whether it’s just getting color-coded notebooks that they’re going to use," Flenner said. "That actually can bring some excitement for them for this new school year when it’s a really hard time for them."Once you got that figured out, it is time to set up what Flenner calls a “pace chart.” It’s basically the agenda your kid is familiar with, but for you too. Some parents put it on a big whiteboard or just a piece of paper attached to the fridge."Parents can really do that important part of organizing them so that they can really focus on their job which is to learn the content," Flenner said.She also suggests after getting access to the virtual learning platform, go in and click on everything. Then, organize different binders or folders for each course.If your kids are sharing devices with each other or you, make a folder on the desktop for their own work. Or buy each child their own flash drive."The biggest help that will get you in gear for virtual learning… is to throw out what you know about the traditional school day. We call it chunking their time together," Flenner said.
