BOULEVARD, Calif. (KGTV) — Firefighters worked quickly to douse flames from a brush fire along Interstate 8 in the East County Saturday.The Crestwood Fire ignited near Old Highway 80 at Tierra Del Sol Road, and grew to 32 acres, according to Cal Fire San Diego. Crews were able to hold the fire at Old Highway 80. As of 8:52 a.m., Cal Fire said crews said the fire was 45% contained.No structures were damaged or threatened, though six homes were evacuated. No injuries were reported.About 25 engines, eight hand crews, and two dozers were called out to the fire. "I am not immune to some of the stresses and anxieties that moms are thinking of right now."Richardson is a doctor on staff at West Boca Medical Center, seeing patients and delivering babies."My medical training does give me a little more perspective, and that allows me to be able to work and not feel too anxious," she said.Richardson said she's no stranger to being pregnant in difficult times. Her first baby was born during the Zika outbreak. She's now taking extra steps to honor her commitment to her patients, while keeping her family safe."I come home and take what my husband calls my decontamination bath," she said. "Leave my clothes outside, shoes outside."Richardson said the questions from pregnant women are plentiful right now."First and foremost, I tell my moms to take a deep breath, right," she said. "You are in good hands."Richardson said the number one feeling she gets from patients is anxiety and fear of the unknown. Some of that, she believes, stems from anxiety about whether or not a support person will be allowed in the hospital with a laboring mother. Brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were convicted of the 1989 murder of their parents, are together again and housed at the same California state prison.Terry Thornton, spokeswoman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, said Lyle Menendez was transferred to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego on February 22 and was moved Wednesday into the same housing unit as Erik Menendez.The move was made after a transfer request from Lyle Menendez. He previously had been held at Mule Creek State Prison in Northern California, Thornton said.The prison board found no reason that the brothers could not be housed together.Lyle Menendez, 50, and Erik Menendez, 47, have been imprisoned since July 1996, after a much-publicized trial. Brad Weldon grabbed a garden hose as the Camp Fire approached his house, spraying water to keep the flames at bay and protect his disabled, elderly mother inside.With fire on all sides, he went from one hose to another. When there were no hoses with water left, he picked up a bucket and started scooping water from his above-ground pool.He had stayed in Paradise, California, to protect his 92-year-old mother, who is blind and was unwilling to leave.With the help of a friend who is his mother's caregiver, Mic McCrary, Weldon fought the flames from the Camp Fire."There was times we were laying on the ground pouring the water on ourselves so we didn't burn," Weldon, 62, said.Did he ever think he was going to die?"Oh yea, of course, quite a few (times). Quite a few," he told CNN on Tuesday while looking at the damage to his yard and the horrific destruction to his neighbors.The water to the hose lasted four hours. He had more water in the pool. Getting in the pool was a last resort in case the heat and the flames came too close, but they ended up only needing it for the buckets.The house made it. He made it. Everyone is fine."It feels good to have it. I feel so sad for everyone though. Everybody I know lost everything," he said while crying for his neighbors.Five days after the record-setting blaze burned almost every home in town, Weldon, who is retired, is trying to stay positive.Weldon is hopeful his home can serve in the aftermath as an anchor for people to come to while they plan for rebuilding or whatever comes next.Weldon, his mother and McCrary are fortunate. Forty-two people died in the Camp Fire, and more than 6,400 homes are gone.Their house is remarkably unscathed, save for some scorching on the back of the work shed.Officials are still looking into the cause of the fire.
