The paraplegic head football coach for Independence High School is claiming he was forced to "scoot down the aisle [of a plane] on his butt" and off the plane after United Airlines denied him an aisle chair on multiple flights.Tyler Schilhabel was injured in an ATV accident years ago and is disabled from the waist down. According to Schilhabel, he and his wife Courtney were traveling via United Airlines to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon. Schilhabel says he booked his flights through Costco's travel program, and was scheduled to travel from Los Angeles to the Dominican Republic with a connecting flight in Chicago. The Schilhabel's were also scheduled for the same route coming home. According to Schilhabel, when they landed, the plane did not have an aisle chair to transport him off the plane. Schilhabel says his wheelchair is too big to fit down the aisle of a plane. Schilhabel says United Airlines also did not have a ramp or elevator to help him off the plane and only had stairs. According to Schilhabel, he had to scoot down the aisle "on his butt" and then had to hop down "step by step" to get to his wheelchair. Then on the Schilhabel's connecting flight in Chicago after the honeymoon, United Airlines also did not have an aisle chair. This time, Schilhabel says he and his wife had seats in the back of the plane. Schilhabel says he had to "scoot all the way down on my butt." On one of the flights, one of the flight attendants picked Shilhabel up and carried him down the aisle so he could catch his connecting flight. When 23ABC spoke to Schilhabel, he called the whole experience "humiliating."Schilhabel says on his last six flights with United Airlines, they were either "late with getting an aisle chair" or did not have an aisle chair. This week, an arrest was made in a 20-year double murder case gone cold. The victims were two 17-year-old Alabama girls. The big break for police: results from a DNA ancestry test. Police arrested 45-year-old Coley McCraney through genetic genealogy, which used his DNA to find relatives. Investigators say they were inspired by the arrest of the Golden State Killer back in April, when police used genetic genealogy to link 72-year-old Joseph James DeAngelo, to at least 13 murders and more than 50 rapes in California during the 70's and 80's. Police used that same technology to arrest men responsible for other unsolved cases that dated back to the 1970’s. "Well over the years, you think about it all the time. I don't think that ever leaves anybody that was working then. It never left your thoughts,” says retired Newport Beach Police Officer Stan Bressler of unsolved cases. So, how are police able to use genetic genealogy results to solve these cases? “We get DNA from a crime scene,” says Ellen Greytak of the first step. Greytak works with Parabon NanoLabs, which helped police arrest suspects in 1,000 years of cold cases. She says her company uploads the DNA to the genealogy database GEDmatch, which is separate from companies like Ancestry.com and 23andMe.“So, they have over a million people in that database and what's returned is basically a list,” Greytak explains. “Here are the people…who share the most DNA with your unknown person.” Then, genetic genealogists step in, building family trees and then narrowing down suspects based on information. “So we know where the crime happened; we know when it happened,” Greytak says. “That limits the age range. You know the person might have lived nearby, but not always.” The information is then handed off to police, who often conduct a traditional DNA match, before making an arrest. Still, some groups are concerned about privacy. However, Greytak says anyone can choose to opt out.“They choose to either set their data to private in GEDmatch, so they're not part of searches, or to take their data down. Hayes says people are more likely to get their data stolen when using simple passwords, or the same password for multiple sites. He says you also need to be cautious of who you choose to store data with because there’s a possibility for any company to be breached.“So if you’re saying ‘save my credit card information', that is a risk that you’re taking for that convenience and it might not be worth it,” Hayes said.The internet has made it so people can fall victim to cybersecurity attacks in everyday life, but if more people understand the motivations and methods scammers are using, cybersecurity attacks might be less successful.So why not use a game to help educate? Any unsolicited emails should be ignored, and if something seems like too good of a deal, make sure to use a critical eye and do your research. Otherwise, you may never receive what you buy, or your personal information could be sold.“The holidays are a time when your guard is down. You’re kind of looking at the joy of the world and buying gifts and connecting with family. And that unfortunately is also a really vulnerable time for people to not pay attention to some of the smaller details,” Brubaker said.  3343
