(KGTV) - A "temporary area restrictions" ban has been issued ahead of President Donald Trump's scheduled visit to Otay Mesa this month.The San Diego Sheriff's Department requested the ban in anticipation of possible demonstrations surrounding the president's visit to view prototypes for his long-promised border wall."It has been widely advertised that there will be a Presidential visit to San Diego during the second week of March. Specifically, someone could use the distraction of a large crowd to instigate violence.  Local law enforcement’s main priority is public safety," Spees said. Plans to build a new 4-acre, .5 million park in National City got a boost this week, thanks to a partnership with the federal government.The Environmental Health Coalition will help the city plan the park and the surrounding area, to make sure people can access the park without having to drive there.National City is one of just 10 communities across the country chosen for the Safe Routes to Parks Initiative.The new park will be near 22nd Street and Harding, where an empty field sits right now. As part of the construction, the EHC will help design safer streets around the park."Kids are trying to get from point a to point b and they have to cross through that main road," explains City Engineer Jose Lopez. "Without enhancements to the road, there's no way a 10-year old or 5-year old can cross the street."The EHC will help the city plan curb extensions, a median refuge island in crosswalks and local trails to let people walk through parks instead of along busy streets.According to a release announcing the partnership, communities chosen for the program had high rates of crime and violence, and also high rates of weight-related chronic diseases. The Safe Routes to Parks program  hopes to increase park use and help communities become healthier and safer.Right now the park is still in the planning stages. Police say a man in Australia fought off a deadly snake that was in his vehicle while he drove on a highway.In a press release, police in Queensland, Australia said a 27-year-old Gladstone man identified as "Jimmy" was driving down Dawson Highway back in June at 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour when he noticed a highly venomous eastern brown snake, which is one of the world's deadliest snakes, near his legs.The incident happened near the town of Calliope.“I’m driving along at 100, and I just started to brake,” Jimmy said in the news release. “…And the more I moved my legs… it just started to wrap around me. Its head just started striking at the (driver’s seat) chair, between my legs.”Jimmy said in the news release that he fought the snake off with his seatbelt and a knife while attempting to stop his car.Police were able to capture the moment on body cameras, which they posted to their Facebook page. 923

Pepsi is buying one of the world's top sparkling water brands.The drinks company announced Monday that it would take over SodaStream, an Israeli company that sells do-it-yourself seltzer makers, in a deal worth .2 billion.The move will boost Pepsi's efforts to shift from its traditional high-calorie soft drinks business to offering healthier options.SodaStream's products, marketed as a healthy alternative to sugary sodas, fit Pepsi's goal of "making more nutritious products while limiting our environmental footprint," Pepsi CEO Indra Nooyi said in a statement. I'll fight it, I will fight it," the owner of Major’s Diner in Pine Valley said.In the letter, county officials noted he could face up to a ,000 fine for every violation under the state's guidelines, which includes not allowing guests inside."It could be ,000.
