If you park your car outside, you might want to look under the hood every once in a while. You could end up with a little surprise from the critters in your yard. The squirrels around Holly and Chris Persic's home seem to be stocking up for the winter by taking walnuts from their yard in Pittsburgh and shoving them under the hood of their car.Holly was driving her car Monday when she thought it smelled like it was burning and was making a strange sound. When she popped the hood, she found more than 200 walnuts and lots of grass."They were everywhere, under the battery, near the radiator fan," Chris said. "The walnuts on the engine block were black and smelt like they were definitely roasting."Holly had her car inspected last month but hadn't looked under the hood since then, her husband Chris told CNN on Tuesday. The walnuts started falling only a few weeks ago."The squirrels worked pretty fast!" Chris said. 932
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For Steve and Lisa Tharp, family has four legs.Quigley, their 4-year-old miniature horse, was known for his huge, playful personality. He often took his antics to an elementary school in Bethany, Missouri, where he donned a Rudolph costume to visit the kids at Christmas. The mischievous miniature loved running through the pasture with his four-legged family. "He'll play these little games with me. After I'm done, he'll come up and kiss me on the cheek, every time," Steve Tharp said.On regular days, the Tharps have a routine. Once the horses are fed, Lisa sits on the ground to pet them and hand out treats."The last two nights, she's sitting out there and all these ponies, they'd all get around. There was one empty spot," Steve said. The spot belongs to Quigley. 799
In an effort to improve his golf game ahead of one of the most important tournaments of the year, Phil Mickelson revealed via social media that he recently resorted to an extreme "hard reset."The three-time Masters champion and Arizona State alum said he lost 15 pounds during a recent six-day fast. Mickelson said he consumed nothing but water and a special coffee blend during those six days, and he went on a bit of a retreat."The last 10 days, I've done what I call a hard reset to change and try to make things better," Mickelson said via his Twitter page Sunday as he prepares for the Open Championship in Northern Ireland this week. "I don't know if it's going to help me play better or not, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to try to get my best back."Mickelson hopes his recent fasting and weight loss will help him win his second Open Championship. He last won the tournament in 2013. 913
