Across the U.S., employees at a large media company are working to put books in the hands of children living in poverty.That company — E.W. Scripps — is inviting the public to help.The Scripps Howard Foundation’s annual “If you give a child a book …” literacy campaign has started and will run through the end of August. The literacy campaign has distributed more than 100,000 new books to children across the country since 2017.Now in its third year, the campaign is a partnership of the Foundation, employees of The E.W. Scripps Company and donors who provide matching gifts to advance childhood literacy by increasing access to books. ?Every dollar raised during the “If you give a child a book … ” campaign is used for the purchase of books for children who need them most. A woman died of COVID-19 while aboard a Spirit Airlines flight between Las Vegas and Dallas earlier this year, according to USA Today and The Washington Post.According to USA Today, the July 24 flight was diverted to Albuquerque, New Mexico after a member of the flight crew reported that the woman was unresponsive. The woman was pronounced dead on arrival.News of the woman's death was announced Sunday by Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins while giving an update about the virus. Jenkins noted that the woman, who was in her 30s, had underlying health conditions.A spokesperson told USA Today that officials at the Albuquerque International Sunport did not learn until later that the woman had been infected with COVID-19, and treated the emergency as they would any other health emergency.A spokesperson for Spirit Airlines told The Washington Post that the airline has offered condolences to the woman's family and that it is confident in its procedures in dealing with the virus.“Our Flight Attendants have in-depth training to respond to medical emergencies and utilize several resources, including communicating with our designated on-call medical professionals on the ground, using onboard medical kits and personal protective equipment, and receiving assistance from credentialed medical personnel traveling on the flight,” Spirit Airlines told The Washington Post. 1381

A woman who was shopping at Heinen's grocery store in Bay Village, Ohio on Friday walked out of the store to find that her car was missing.As it turns out, another woman accidentally took the car home, thinking it belonged to her.According to Bay Village police, the two white Lexus cars were parked next to each other in the parking lot. A 60-year-old woman walked out and took one of the cars, thinking it was hers. When the other woman came out to get in her car, she realized it was gone. After the massacre in Florida last week, schools have faced dozens of incidents involving a threat or a weapon on campus.Nationwide, schools have reported at least 56 such incidents since the February 14 shooting in Parkland, Florida, including threats via social media networks such as Snapchat and Instagram, according to CNN and affiliate reporting.Some were reported in Florida, including in Broward County, where a gunman killed 17 people last week at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Amazon is pulling Washington Redskins merchandise from their online marketplace.The announcement comes after the team indicated it was reviewing a possible name change, and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league was supportive of the review.According to a notice distributed to sellers on Amazon, and first published by CNBC, the company said they are removing all products with the Redskins logo and name, and gave sellers just a few days to remove items.Washington State Attorney General sent a letter to Amazon asking for the team products to be removed.
