SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer issued a warning to motorized scooter and bike companies, tweeting a letter Friday night. In part it reads, "ongoing violations will result in revocation of your permit to operate within the City, or will serve as justification for not renewing your permit when it expires in six months... It is your responsibility to proactively move your devices within three hours... or it will be impounded."The companies could face an impounding fee of per device.Several riders told 10News they had no idea what the rules for riding and parking scooters were. They didn't know about the 300 freshly painted corrals around San Diego streets.Other infractions include riding on the sidewalk, riding two at a time, ignoring the rules of the road and dumping or parking scooters on the sidewalk."We enjoyed it but I got pulled over by two police officers, they said read the signs there were no signs anywhere," Rider Melissa Sherman said in frustration.The only sign you can see is the painted warning on the foot of the scooters, reading 'do not ride on sidewalk.'"You see them laying all over the ground, wherever, people don't want to take the responsibility of them so it is what it is, everybody has to abide by the rules. you know? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego marijuana supporters are being invited to legally celebrate 4-20 at an Embarcadero Park festival but organizers remind attendees that smoking in public remains illegal.Legal weed supporters will gather in Embarcadero Park North for Bayked?SD, a festival meant to celebrate marijuana and the unique holiday with educational seminars and various musical acts."Regardless of the origin of 4-20, it now marks a community celebration of a makeshift holiday where friends gather to enjoy life and spread the feel-good (sp) vibes year after year," organizers wrote online.RELATED: City of Chula Vista gives legal marijuana sales the green lightFestival organizers cautioned there will be no marijuana products of any kind sold on the premises, noting while it's legal to smoke marijuana in California it's not legal to smoke in public.A variety of cannabis brand vendors will be in attendance and sessions to provide education on recreational marijuana will be held.An insider with the festival told 10News that organizers will incorporate a combination of pre-event and on-site precautions to deter marijuana consumption.Organizers will remind attendees on-site and through email prior to the event that marijuana is not allowed. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for an at-risk teenager who disappeared from the Carmel Valley area on Sunday.Police say Nevaeh "Marie" Corbin, 14, was last seen at about 1:30 p.m. leaving her home on Sunday in the Carmel Valley area. Police say Corbin left on foot and said she was going for a walk at an unknown location. Corbin is diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and depression, police added.Corbin is described as a Caucasian female with black hair and blue eyes, and is about 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 175 pounds.She was last seen wearing a multi-colored tank top, black leggings, a pink and black Apple watch, and multi-colored blue shoes.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 619-531-2000. 750

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Recent remedies aimed at reducing San Diego's homeless crisis have not been enough, according to a scientific 10News/San Diego Union-Tribune poll.The poll of 800 San Diego adults showed sentiments about addressing homelessness are not positive. When asked if they believed if homelessness was getting better, worse, or staying the same in San Diego, only 11 percent said it was getting better. About 60 percent said it's getting worse.Many believe that blame lies at the top of local government. When asked who is most responsible for reducing homelessness, 53 percent said elected officials and 18 percent pointed to the homeless and their families.RELATED: Housing crunch: San Diego needs 171,000 new homes by 2029So what's led to San Diego's homelessness? Of those surveyed, 33 percent believe housing costs have contributed most to the homeless crisis, 22 percent said substance abuse, and 20 percent said mental health issues.Recently, San Diego officials opened three temporary tent shelters to try and transition some of the city's homeless population into housing. When asked if they thought the tents helped, 51 percent said yes, 20 percent said no, and 29 percent were not sure.A report by the San Diego Housing Commission shows from December 2017 to March 2018, 946 people have exited the three tents.
