SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego State University said Tuesday it plans to pause a majority of in-person instruction for the fall term.The university noted that the changes will begin the week of Thanksgiving.“Faculty offering in-person courses are encouraged to shift to virtual, preferably by Friday, Nov. 20. All faculty should convert to virtual instruction no later than Wednesday, Nov. 25,” the university said.The university also said that no in-person research by freshman, sophomores, or volunteers will be allowed for the remainder of the fall semester.The changes come as San Diego County enters the state’s purple tier. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Seven people are dead after contracting a flesh-eating bacteria linked to black tar heroin use in San Diego.County health officials said nine people who injected black tar heroin were admitted to county hospitals between Oct. 2 and Nov. 24 with a bacterial infection called myonecrosis, which is a severe soft tissue infection that destroys muscle. Of those victims, seven have died. The patients range in age from 19 to 57 years old.RELATED: Sixth death reported during San Diego's current flu season“People who use black tar heroin are not only at higher risk of dying from an overdose, but also more prone to developing myonecrosis and wound botulism,” said Wilma Wooten, county public health officer.One confirmed case of wound botulism linked to black tar heroin use was also reported in October — the first confirmed case in the county this year.Wound botulism, which attacks the body’s nerves, is also linked to heroin use. People who inject illicit narcotics like black tar heroin are at a higher risk of developing both infections, the county says. So, we get to live it, going on which is pretty cool.”Casey Dominguez, a Political Science Professor, is allowing students to watch the impeachment inquiry hearings during class as part of today’s lesson plan, hoping to help them understand what’s happening.Dominguez adds she hopes her students, “walk away from our class feeling they are competent to figure out what’s going on.
