The collapse of Sears, Toys "R" Us, and Bon-Ton is boosting the rest of the pack.More than 5,460 stores have closed so far this year, including 881 Toys "R" Us', 472 Sears and Kmart's, and 260 Bon-Ton department stores, according to retail think-tank Coresight Research.Walmart and Target have raced to fill the Toys 'R' Us vacancy. They have stockpiled inventory, expanded sections at stores, and built up their online offering. L.O.L. Surprise and Fingerlings have been among the best selling toys, analysts say.Toy sections were busy at both companies during the weekend, Morgan Stanley analyst Simeon Gutman said in a report on Monday. Around half of annual toy sales come during the holidays. 697
The decision is a victory for our resilient plaintiffs, the right to counsel, and our vision for a fair and just immigration system, said plaintiffs' attorney Monika Langarica."The order upholds the right to counsel in such high-stakes proceedings and rejects the government's contention that anything less comports with the law." 330

The City of Chula Vista issued a statement on the possible case:"On March 4, 2020, the City of Chula Vista was informed by County of San Diego health officials that an individual recently tested presumptive positive for COVID-19 and had close, yet minimal, contact with persons within the city of Chula Vista. The individual is a resident of another CA county and had recently traveled to a high-risk region as defined by the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC). County health officials have made contact with those persons believed to have been in close contact with the individual. Although County health officials indicate the risk to other persons is low, County officials advised all involved persons to follow CDC guidance to self-quarantine. These persons will continue to be monitored for 14-days. The City of Chula Vista is providing this information out of an abundance of caution. The City of Chula Vista believes the current risk to our community is low and will continue to coordinate with the County of San Diego to monitor the on-going situation."The Chula Vista Elementary School District said Thursday night that a parent of a pre-school student at Fester Charter School is under self-quarantine. The person was notified by her employer of possible COVID-19 exposure. The woman was quarantined due to her exposure to an AT&T regional manager who lives in Orange County. The woman decided to keep her child home from the school during the 14-day quarantine. “At this time, there is no indication that the parent of our preschool student has contracted COVID-19. In fact, the HHSA (San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency) has indicated there is a low probability that the individual will contract it,” the district said in a statement. HHSA also told the district that at no point have any students or staff been “subject to exposure to the COVID-19 virus from this aren’t or student.”The district sent the following letter to parents and staff: 1978
The FDA cannot confirm third-party reports about Monat, Inc. or its products. FDA generally does not comment on open inspections or ongoing investigations. If a cosmetic product appears to be causing a problem, FDA must determine the cause of the problem before taking any potential enforcement action.Since late August 2017, the FDA has received and is assessing 199 adverse event reports related to Monat hair products. We urge consumers who have experienced problems with cosmetics to contact us. We provide phone numbers for consumer complaint coordinators for each state, and have a web-based reporting form that consumers can either complete online or print out and mail. The FDA does not have legal authority to require that companies share consumer complaints with us. We rely on open source information, medical providers, and consumers themselves for information about potential problems with cosmetics. The FDA does not approve cosmetics, nor does it have legal authority to require companies submit cosmetic products for approval. Additionally, companies are not legally required to provide safety data to the FDA for product formulations. 1170
The case involving the death of Matthew Shepard is one of the most well-known that featured an LGBTQ+ panic defense. Two men accused of beating the 21-year-old to death attempted to use the defense to excuse their actions. In the past, New Jersey defendants have successfully argued that gay or trans panic constituted heat of passion provocation in order to reduce charges of murder to manslaughter. Under the new law, defendants will be prohibited from using a victim’s actual or perceived gender identity or expression or affectional or sexual orientation as a heat of passion defense to murder in New Jersey courts.“We will always stand with our LGBTQ+ community and promote full equality for all our residents,” said Governor Phil Murphy. “Gay and trans panic defenses are rooted in homophobia and abhorrent excuses that should never be used to justify violence against vulnerable populations. With this new law, we are enacting critical measures to protect our friends and neighbors in the LGBTQ+ community.” This makes New Jersey the ninth state to issue a ban on these kinds of defenses.
