OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Edmond, Oklahoma teacher is offering free rides to teachers trying to get to the Capitol for the walkout."I couldn’t tell you how many people have been in this car," Troy Frieling said. "I have no idea. I’ve had children, administrators, support staff, just teachers in general."For the last eight days, Troy Frieling has shuttled people to and from the Capitol from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. He picks them up at their cars parked in neighborhoods a few miles away and drops them off just a few steps from the rally.Frieling is a teacher himself and so is his wife."Honestly I wanted to be able to serve the teachers," Frieling said. "I just didn’t feel like my time standing in line up there was going to help anything."He said he has picked up some of the same people day after day.A ride in Frieling's truck is completely free."They’ve asked me, 'Do you want donations?' and I’m like, 'No, it wouldn’t be a free ride if you gave me donations,'" he saidHe said he has found a few dollars left behind in his truck. The only thing he asks of his passengers is they sign a poster in his car. He's already filled up one poster and has hundreds on his second poster."It took five minutes off our day, but it’s also refreshing after such a long week and a half to continue to see the community being helpful and supportive," Randi Mahoney, a teacher at Ralph Downs in Ponca City, said.At the end of the day, Frieling brings them back to their cars.  1494

(AP) — Facebook has banned an extremist anti-government network loosely associated with the broader “boogaloo” movement, a slang term that supporters use to refer to a second Civil War or a collapse of civilization.But the platform didn’t try to name the group, underscoring the difficulty of grappling with an amorphous network linked to a string of domestic terror plots that appears to obfuscate its existence.Facebook designated the movement as a dangerous organization similar to the Islamic State group and white supremacists, both of which it already bans.Facebook says it is removing groups, accounts and pages when they have a “clear connection to violence or a credible threat to public safety.” The company says it has removed 220 Facebook accounts, 95 Instagram accounts and 106 groups that comprise the “US-based anti-government network.”Additionally, Facebook says it has removed 400 groups and over 100 other pages for violating its “Dangerous Individuals and Organizations” policy, because they hosted similar content as the violent network.“So long as violent movements operate in the physical world, they will seek to exploit digital platforms,” wrote Facebook. “We are stepping up our efforts against this network and know there is still more to do.” 1293

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A woman run over and killed by a construction vehicle at an Oceanside beach was identified by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.The ME’s Office said 68-year-old Carol Aguirre died in the incident that occurred Sept. 28 on the beach near Oceanside's South Harbor. Aguirre was listed as a transient, the office noted.Oceanside police said the victim was lying on the sand on the beach off the 1200 block of North Pacific Street at around 10 a.m. when the incident happened.RELATED: Woman run over, killed by heavy machinery on beachAccording to police, the woman was apparently asleep when a tractor, which was involved in a dredging project at nearby Oceanside Harbor Beach, struck her.The woman died at the scene.It was not immediately known if the victim was in an area closed off to the public when she was run over by the heavy machinery. 889

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - An Oceanside man says his dog is healing from a close encounter with a coyote that was caught on his doorbell camera. CC, a 13-year-old Maltipoo, was attacked by the coyote Wednesday about 9 p.m. at her home on Morgan Creek Way. “Thinking I’m never going to see her again,” said Joe Vines Jr., CC’s owner. Video from the Ring camera shows CC scurrying into the front yard as Vines locks his door. He was about to put CC in the car to run errands when he heard her cry for help. Vines turned around to find CC in the coyote’s jaws. RELATED: Dog named Roadrunner escapes coyote in chase down Vista street“His whole mouth was around her body, holding her like that,” Vines said. “In my head I’m thinking, I’m not going to let me dog….I’m not going to let her leave in someone's mouth.” Vines chased down the coyote, which dropped CC nearby. CC had several deep bites. She suffered two broken ribs and now has breathing problems. Vines will keep a closer eye on his dog from now on. OCEANSIDE, Calif. - A U.S. Border Patrol agent was arrested in North San Diego County on suspicion of possessing heroin and a short-barrel rifle, Oceanside Police reported Tuesday.Officers were patrolling an apartment complex on Los Arbolitos Blvd. where a suspicious person had been reported last week. That's when they reportedly found Brandon Herrera. He was passed out in the driver’s seat of a Ford pickup truck parked on a nearby street, police said.Oceanside Police said they found more than five grams of heroin and a weapon at the scene.The U.S. Border Patrol confirmed with Scripps station KGTV in San Diego it is gathering information about the report.Herrera is due in court April 17. 719
