The body of University of Utah student Mackenzie Lueck has been found in a canyon north of Salt Lake City, police said Friday.Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown said in a news conference that he was "relieved and grief-stricken" to report that Lueck's body was recovered Wednesday in Logan Canyon, about 90 miles north of Salt Lake City. Investigators were subsequently able to forensically confirm it was Lueck, Brown said.The 23-year-old was last seen in the early morning hours of June 17 when she was dropped off at a park in North Salt Lake City. The once mighty brands of Sears and Kmart are continuing to slowly disappear as Sears announced on Thursday the closure of 96 additional stores. The 96 locations, which are a mixture of Kmart and Sears branded stores, are set to close by February. The closing locations will have going out of business sales starting on Dec. 2. The footprint of Sears and Kmart will further shrink by one third with this round of closures, leaving fewer than 200 total locations nationally between the two brands. This announcement comes less than a year after more than 200 Sears and Kmart locations closed. While other retailers in recent years, such as Toys 'R' Us and RadioShack have faded away, Sears' demise would mark the end of an industry titan. The company was at one time the nation's largest retailer, selling items as small as earrings, to as big as houses. The announcement does not impact the nearly 400 locations that operate as Sears Hometown or Sears Outlet locations, which feature appliances and electronics. The Hubble Telescope can sure find some scary images of deep space in a video released by NASA on Monday. The images were of the twin galaxies AM 2026-424, which is a mere 724 million light-years away from Earth. That means the light we are seeing on Earth was emitted 724 million years ago.From Earth, the colliding galaxies appear to form the shape of a face, with two "eyes," which make up the core of the galaxies."Each 'eye' is the bright core of a galaxy, one of which slammed into another. The outline of the face is a ring of young blue stars. Other clumps of new stars form a nose and mouth," NASA said in a statement.""Although galaxy collisions are common—especially back in the young universe—most of them are not head-on smashups, like the collision that likely created this Arp-Madore system," NASA added. "The violent encounter gives the system an arresting 'ring' structure for only a short amount of time, about 100 million years. The crash pulled and stretched the galaxies' disks of gas, dust, and stars outward. This action formed the ring of intense star formation that shapes the nose and face." 1129

For the first time ever in Scripps National Spelling Bee history, more than two Scripps National Spelling Bee champions were named. In a surprise announcement after Round 17 of the competition, official pronouncer Dr. Jacques Bailly announced there would only be three more rounds. “We are throwing the dictionary at you, and you are showing the dictionary who is boss,” says Dr. Bailly to the remaining spellers. The audience erupted in applause and gave a standing ovation to the eight incredible spellers, who remained as of 11:35 p.m. EST.
