To Cristal Franklin, she was so much more.“I saw her as my aunt. The one who cooked dinner for my roommate from college when I came home.  The one who bought the best gifts on earth for Christmas and birthdays,” Franklin said.Franklin says she visited her aunt in the days before she died, hoping for a miracle, but knowing her time would likely be short  She got word she had passed as she left town.“We were taking my daughter to college when we got the news. I made it on the plane. When the door closed, I lost it,” said Cristal.She drove by the Charles H Wright Museum of African American History the night before the public visitation and saw already overwhelming crowds. In her grief, she decided to take food to those first in line and learn about what her aunt meant to them.Cristal, a clothing designer, known as CFranks, decided to make a shirt that listed he aunt's accomplishments.“I want people to know she was more than a singer,” Franklin said. “She was a civil rights activist.”“I want people to listen to the old songs and play them for their children," she said.She shared memories of her aunt helping students pay for college, seeing families lose their belongings in a fire and responding, helping activists get out of prison, and paying for funerals of those in need.“It is overwhelming because she is our aunt,” Franklin said.Cristal is hoping people learn about her aunt through her creation. You can find it here. 1531

Thursday was supposed to mark the second of three presidential debates between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.Instead, Trump and Biden will hold town hall forums on opposite networks in a hope to sway voters to the polls by November 3. The town hall forums will air Thursday evening at 8 p.m.How we got hereIn the two weeks since the last debate, Trump tested positive for the coronavirus as dozens of others who had contact with Trump around the time of the debate also tested positive for the virus. Also, revelations surfaced that Trump’s travel party did not follow the debate’s coronavirus guidelines at the Sept. 30 meeting in Cleveland.As a result, the Commission on President Debates announced last week the debate scheduled for Oct. 15 would be held virtually. Wanting no part of a virtual debate, Trump immediately retracted his participation in the debate, and instead his campaign said it would hold a rally.Meanwhile, Biden said he’d opt to hold a televised town hall forum on Thursday.On Wednesday, NBC News announced that Trump had agreed to participate in a town hall at the same time.When/where to watchBiden’s town hall will begin at 8 p.m. ET live in all time zones. The town hall will air live on ABC, ABC News Live on streaming platforms, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. TORREY PINES (KGTV) - Two paragliders, one from San Diego and one from Orange County, died after colliding in mid-air and crashing into a cliff Saturday afternoon.It happened near Torrey Pines Gliderport around 2:45 p.m. Police confirmed both paragliders were men. One of the men was 61-years-old and the other man was 43-years-old, officials said. Both of the men were certified .Witnesses sat stunned when they watched the paragliders become intertwined, "I initially heard the collapse of the chute... I heard a collision, and some kind of sound, and looked over and saw two people falling from the sky," Madeline Henderson said."It was spinning but it was like in slow motion and I could see the guy, I don't know what he was trying to do but I felt bad for them," Irene Marquez said from the passenger seat of a car. She said it was her first time at the Gliderport and was traumatized by what she saw.Rescuers have recovered both of the bodies.Witnesses say the paragliders collided mid-air, a chute collapsed, and they spiraled to the ground and hit the cliffs. 1076
