Papa John's tanked Tuesday after a report that a plan to sell the company has fallen apart.The Wall Street Journal reported that the asset manager Trian Management Funds is no longer interested in bidding for the company. That's a tall order.The company has been working hard to distance itself from controversial founder John Schnatter, who resigned his role as chairman in July after news broke that he had used the N-word on a conference call.Papa John's said earlier this month that same-store sales in North America fell by 9.8% during the most recent quarter. Total revenue dropped 15.7% from a year earlier to about 4 million.Schnatter also stepped down as CEO at the end of last year after he caused a controversy by blaming the NFL for poor pizza sales. Schnatter said sales were hurt by the way the league handled players' kneeling during the National Anthem in protest of racial injustice.Since then, Papa John's hasn't been able to regain its momentum, and sales have continued to slip.Other pizza sellers have struggled this quarter. Pizza Hut's sales were flat, and though Domino's (DPZ) reported domestic and international same-store growth, the company missed analyst expectations.But Pizza Hut and Domino's are better equipped to win the pizza wars. Police in Osceola County, Florida said a man was locked up after he was accused of trying to kill sex offenders.Officers said he tried to set the men on fire.Jorge Porto-Sierra has been formally charged with four counts of attempted premeditated murder.Osceola County detectives said the 50-year-old confessed to deputies he tried to kill multiple people at the Friendly Village Inn on Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway.After his March 7 arrest, Porto-Sierra said he arrived at the motel to "barbecue all the child molesters on fire and kill them."WESH 2 News in Orlando confirmed at least two of the four victims are convicted sexual offenders.Witnesses told deputies Porto-Sierra made several threats, screaming, "I'm going to kill you, child molester," and allegedly began throwing gasoline on their front door.Porto-Sierra is accused of breaking a hotel window to pour gasoline inside.Witnesses said he was carrying a cigarette the whole time.Another couple said Porto-Sierra rammed their car and poured gas on it.When asked by deputies why he did not carry out his threats, Porto-Sierra said, "You got here too soon."Porto-Sierra remains behind bars at the Osceola County Jail.He's being held on no bond.  1219

(KGTV) -- After Larry McNamer received a cease-and-desist letter from San Diego County officials, during the first week purple tier restrictions went into place, he said he will not back down."This is what courts are for. I'll fight it, I will fight it," the owner of Major’s Diner in Pine Valley said.In the letter, county officials noted he could face up to a ,000 fine for every violation under the state's guidelines, which includes not allowing guests inside."It could be ,000. Police said a two-year old boy died after ingesting medication at his grandmother’s house in Henrico County, Virginia Friday afternoon, according to WTVR-TV.Lt. Richard Brown with Henrico Police said the two-year-old swallowed up to 12 adult-dosage pills before he was transported to VCU Medical Center where he died.Officials said his body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office to determine his exact cause of death.When reporters arrived at the home Saturday, social services workers were inside investigating.The family’s spokesperson, Ricky Johnson, said he could not provide additional information since Kejon Edwards’ death is still under investigation.“We suffered a loss and we are just asking that you pray for this family and pray for this community,” said Johnson with the Ricky Johnson and Friends Foundation. “The family is asking for privacy right now, while we try to figure this out.
