SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) - A grieving dog owner is searching for the owner of the dog who attacked her 8-year-old rescue at a Santee dog park.At Woodglen Vista Park late Monday morning, Heather Moreno, her 3-year-old daughter and her Pomeranian mix had just walked into the fenced-in off-leash area when they were greeted by a dog. Moreno says the black dog was about 70 pounds, possibly a German Shepard mix."Immediately the owner of the big dog approaches me and shouts, 'Don't worry, he's friendly.' The tail was wagging. My daughter petted him. Our dogs were sniffing each other,said Moreno.Moreno says she was glancing between her dog, Trigger, and her daughter. "Next thing I know, my dog is whining, and he has my dog in his mouth ... thrashing around like a dog toy," said Moreno.The attack would last an agonizing 30 seconds."I'm in panic mode. I'm shouting at the dog, shouting at the dog owner," said Moreno.The dog owner eventually pried open his dog's jaws. Moreno rushing Trigger to an emergency animal hospital, where she died from her wounds on the operating table. "I miss her a lot. She was my companion with everything," said Moreno, choking back tears.Amid the grief, Moreno has a warning for other dog owners at dog parks. "Just always be vigilant. Always be cautious. SAN MARCOS (KGTV) - A report of a man shooting his wife at their North San Diego County home Tuesday may have been a swatting call, San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies said.Deputies got a call indicating a man had opened fire on his wife at a home in the 1400 block of Clearview Way near San Elijo Park in San Marcos about 2:30 p.m.Investigators surrounded the home, breaking down the door with guns drawn. They found the man unarmed on the balcony. No victim was in the home. Several schools were temporarily placed on lockdown. The man’s wife later arrived at the scene, unaware of the situation. The woman, who did not want to be identified,  told 10News she and her husband are gamers with millions of followers. "People always have an opinion and they may not like what you do or say and sometimes it’s taken to an extreme when they call the cops on you," said the man's wife. The wife said her husband had no idea deputies had entered the home until he heard shouting. He usually wears a headset while he's playing. "He heard 'this is the police'. I think he heard it, 'this is the police' and he took his headset off and he came downstairs and he saw guns being pointed at him and he wanted to show his hands because he was afraid to get shot," she said. The call made to deputies was traced back to a doctor’s office in Michigan, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Airbnb announced Thursday that it’s banning all parties and events at the listings on its website to comply with limits on gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic.The San Francisco-based company says the party ban applies to all future bookings on Airbnb and it will remain in effect indefinitely until further notice.Additionally, Airbnb says the occupancy at its listings will be capped at 16 people. Though, the company says it’s considering a potential exception process for specialty and traditional hospitality venues, like boutique hotels.“We also understand that 16 is not a magic number, and issues can occur with groups of any size,” wrote the company. “To be clear, we are not sanctioning smaller gatherings with this policy and all community members are expected to comply with local health restrictions on gatherings. We are capping guests at 16 in these large properties as one step amongst several, all designed to mitigate any efforts to misuse an Airbnb for a party.”Airbnb says guests will be informed about its party rules and told that they may be “legally pursued” by the company if they violate the policy.Unauthorized parties have actually always been prohibited at Airbnb listings and the company says 73% of its listings already ban them in their house rules.Over the last year or two, Airbnb has begun imposing stricter limits, starting with a global ban on “party houses,” or listings that create persistent neighborhood nuisance. And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, a new policy was introduced that required all users to adhere to local coronavirus mandates.“However, in many large jurisdictions, public health mandates on gatherings have changed – and in some places swung back and forth in response to the changing rates of COVID cases – as have regulations on bars, clubs and pubs,” wrote Airbnb. “Some have chosen to take bar and club behavior to homes, sometimes rented through our platform. We think such conduct is incredibly irresponsible – we do not want that type of business, and anyone engaged in or allowing that behavior does not belong on our platform.”Based on these developments, the company says instituting a global ban on parties and events is in the best interest of public health. 2265

SARASOTA COUNTY, Florida — Sheriff Tom Knight announced the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates to protect 12 of its elementary schools in the county.The sheriff is looking to hire 14 candidates to fill the newly designed School Resource Deputy II position.“It has been our goal from day one to identify a practical and cost-effective solution for the school district,” said Sheriff Knight. “After ample research and internal review, we put together a program that is not only compliant with the new law, but will stand to benefit the district and its students, while appealing to law enforcement-certified career seekers looking to give back to this community.
