POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) – The owner of the StoneRidge Country Club has closed its doors after nearly 60 years of operation. The closure comes after voters overwhelmingly rejected Measure A, which would have allowed for up to 25 acres of the property to be re-zoned for luxury condo development. On Wednesday, former employees were seen picking up final checks and grabbing their equipment. 10News has reached out to a spokesperson for the owner, Michael Schlesinger, but has not heard back. 510
Political leaders on both sides of the aisle are stressing the importance of wearing masks. That now includes Republicans like Vice President Mike Pence and the governor of Arkansas, Asa Hutchinson. On the Democratic side, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says a federal mandate on face coverings is long overdue.Rodica Damian, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Houston, tells us seeing prominent political figures accept masks will influence individual decisions.Damian says there's two main sources of what drives behavior, personality and social context. Identifying with a certain political group adds social context.“A lot of people who don't wear masks think they're not wearing masks because they're kind of independent thinking, but it's very likely they're also following social norms,” said Damian. “They're just following social norms of a group that thinks you shouldn't wear masks.”When it comes to personality, Damian says people who are more responsible, rule-following, and pro-social tend to wear masks. Those who don't may have higher levels of narcissism or be more impulsive.“We're all on a continuum, so I don't want to put people in categories, so depending on where you fall on that continuum on each of these traits, they're all going to feed into your decision,” said Damian.Damian says we should remember that across the country and across party lines, the majority of people are strongly in favor of wearing masks. 1465

President Donald Trump on Monday accused fired FBI officials James Comey and Andrew McCabe of committing "many crimes," his latest salvo at the bureau in the wake of the former bureau director's media tour to support his upcoming book."Comey drafted the Crooked Hillary exoneration long before he talked to her (lied in Congress to Senator G), then based his decisions on her poll numbers," he tweeted. "Disgruntled, he, (former Deputy FBI Director Andrew) McCabe, and the others, committed many crimes!"Sunday night, ABC aired an interview with Comey, who is promoting his new book, " A Higher Loyalty," in which he declares the President to be morally unfit to lead the nation. 687
President Donald Trump said Monday he has no plans to fire Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who has been facing an uncertain fate for more than two weeks."No, I don't. No," Trump told reporters on Monday after he was asked if he has any plans to fire Rosenstein.Rosenstein is joining Trump on Monday aboard Air Force One for a trip to Florida, where the two men will participate in the International Association of Chiefs of Police's annual convention.Trump and Rosenstein had been scheduled to meet last week to discuss The New York Times report that flung Rosenstein into limbo. The report claimed Rosenstein discussed secretly recording Trump and using the 25th Amendment to remove him from office. They postponed the meeting amid the Kavanaugh confirmation battle and speculation has abounded that Trump might fire Rosenstein.Rosenstein said he never pursued recording the President and denied any suggestion he advocated for Trump's removal.Trump said Monday that the two men will be "talking on the plane" and said he looks "forward to being with him.""That'll be very nice," Trump said. "I actually have a good relationship other than there's no collusion."Pressed further about his relationship with Rosenstein, Trump added: "I didn't know Rod before, but I got to know him and I get along very well with him."After the Times report published, Rosenstein told White House chief of staff John Kelly he would resign, anticipating the article would enrage Trump and he would be fired. But when he showed up at the White House last Monday to meet with Kelly, he left the meeting unscathed.Trump had previously indicated he would prefer to keep Rosenstein in his post, but offered no definitive indication of Rosenstein's fate until his comments on Monday morning.The-CNN-Wire 1798
President Donald Trump and the first lady will be spending Thanksgiving at the White House instead of attending the annual dinner at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. The first lady’s spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, confirmed the plans in a “Holiday Scheduling Update” on Twitter on Tuesday evening.Trump and his family typically spend the holiday in Palm Beach and have Thanksgiving dinner in a ballroom alongside dues-paying members who purchase tickets to attend.A spokesperson for the Trump Organization did not respond to questions Tuesday about whether the Mar-a-Lago event would be held given the spike in coronavirus cases and pleas from public health officials for Americans to limit the number of people they socialize with indoors this holiday season to limit the spread.Meanwhile, Joe Biden said Monday that he and his wife are planning to follow the advice of medical officials who recommend no more than 10 people at a gathering, masked and socially distanced. Biden also says anyone at their Thanksgiving gathering would be tested for the virus 24 hours before getting together. The restrictions may be difficult, but Biden says, “I just want to make sure we’re able to be together next Thanksgiving, next Christmas."The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is urging people to celebrate virtually or with members of their household, noting that in-person gatherings with people from different households “pose varying levels of risk.” Guidance also notes that a gathering’s size “should be determined based on the ability of attendees from different households” to socially distance and follow hygiene recommendations. 1645
