(KGTV and AP) - Two suspects are in custody in the United States in connection with the deaths of nine women and children in northern Mexico, relatives of the victims report. Bryan LeBaron said Thursday U.S. officials told the family that two suspects had been detained in the United States, but did not specify what role they had played in the Nov. 4 ambush attack. Earlier this week, prosecutors said more than 40 suspects have now been identified in connection with the killings of the extended Langford and LeBaron families who have lived in northern Mexico for decades. Three mothers and six children were killed; eight others were injured. The victims were dual citizens of Mexico and the United States, and part of a Mormon community of about 3,000 members living in Mexico. (KGTV) - A group of Massachusetts police officers and firefighters are being hailed as heroes after coming to the aid of a choking puppy this week.North Reading resident Megan Vitale stormed into a police station Sunday telling officers her 9-week-old Saint Bernard puppy, Bodhi, was choking on food. An acquaintance came running in with Bodhi shortly after, the puppy limp and unresponsive in his arms, surveillance footage from the station showed.A group of officers came running out to begin administering first aid to the puppy. A group of North Reading firefighters also arrived at the station to help with back blows and chest compressions. After 10 minutes, the food blockage was finally dislodged and Bodhi was revived."Ultimately, a life was saved thanks to rescuers falling back on their training and remaining calm. Even though we are not faced with this kind of incident every day, the officers reacted just as they would in any emergency situation," North Reading Police Chief Murphy said. “We are hopeful that the puppy will make a full recovery."Firefighters used a special oxygen tank designed for pets to help Bodhi get breathing again."Many of our firefighters have pets at home in their own families. We do not get to choose the emergency situation that comes our way, so it is important that first responders be prepared for anything," Fire Chief Stats said.Bodhi was able to leave with Vitale to receive follow-up care from a veterinarian, according to the police department. 1534

Sixty-four spellers will not be moving onto the final preliminary competition. (KGTV) -- DUI arrests and fatalities rose significantly statewide over Fourth of July weekend, according to the California Highway Patrol. According to the agency, 1204 people were arrested for DUI this Fourth of July. In 2018, 389 people were arrested. The number of DUI-related deaths also saw an increase. This year, 24 people died in DUI-related incidents compared to 17 in 2018. In San Diego County, 81 people were arrested over the July 4 holiday. (KGTV) - Did a man being questioned by police for a crime give officers a false name even though his real name was tattooed on his neck?Yes!Police in Illinois questioned 36-year-old Matthew Bushman last week in connection to a forgery.He gave them a false name even though "Matty B" is tattooed across his neck.Bushman already had a warrant out for his arrest.
