UPDATE -- A beloved community icon was returned overnight Monday after surveillance video caught a thief making off with the Rancho Bernardo treasure. It's still unclear who took the baker statue, but the figure was returned to a business next door overnight. The owners say they're happy and grateful the icon is back. View the original story below: SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — If you stop at Rancho Bernardo's Edelweiss Bakery, you will get tasty treats and a warm welcome, thanks to a 7-foot-tall statue known as "The Baker Man." Bakery owner Gerry Lawrie says has stood outside the front door for more than 20 years. Before that, it stood outside a previous location in Mira Mesa for several years. "He was particularly liked by the children. They like to run up and touch him, and take photos next to him," said Lawrie.The store mascot turned neighborhood icon vanished Tuesday night. In the surveillance video, a vehicle is seen pulling up just before 10:30 p.m. A man gets out and walks toward statue and pushes it to check the weight. He then walks back toward the truck, before turning around and eventually picking up the statue. Finally, he tosses it into the truck and drives off."Disappointed for sure," said Lawrie.Lawrie and his wife Lynn are both at a loss."Feels sad and empty because he was such a part of us. Customers are really upset," said Lynn Lawrie."The Baker Man" was first purchased at an antique warehouse in Corona. They believe it's fiberglass and weighed less than 100 pounds. The owners are making a direct appeal to the thief."He's a special friend and we would like him returned," he said. The couple filed a police report, but they're hoping the thief will simply put it back, no questions asked.The owners are also offering a unique reward for information leading to the return of the statue. A critically endangered western lowland gorilla has given birth to her first baby at a zoo in New Orleans on September 4.The Audubon Zoo says 13-year-old Tumani and her baby are doing well. Tropical Storm Jose has strengthened back into a hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center.The storm, which could bring rain and wind to the northeastern United States later this week. It had maximum sustained winds of nearly 80 mph and was 550 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, early Saturday, according to the hurricane center.Jose remains out in the Atlantic Ocean and is moving toward the northwest, and that motion will bring it closer to the United States through the weekend. Just how far it moves west before turning to the north will tell forecasters a great deal about the likelihood of whether it will make landfall somewhere along the eastern US coastline. 704

TUCSON, Ariz. — Police in Marana, Arizona are investigating after a man was reportedly holding a gun in his lap at a Starbucks near Cortaro and I-10 Saturday morning.Marana Police say around 8:45 a.m. there was a report of the man having his finger on the trigger of an un-holstered gun. The man was detained without incident when officers arrived. No one was hurt.Authorities say the man, 51-year-old James Vincent Delaney, was arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Facility on felony Disorderly Conduct and Weapons Misconduct related charges.  592

TULSA -- Dash cam video released Monday shows a man smash a Tulsa Police Department vehicle with a large pipe.Police said on Aug. 7 around 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to Brookhaven Hospital for a patient attempting to leave.The man was later found on I-244 eastbound.The man is seen smashing an officer's window. Police said the man was experiencing a mental health crisis.The man was tackled and officers returned him to the hospital.No arrests were made.  475
