United Airlines confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday that a dog died on board a flight from Houston to New York on Monday after flight attendants requested that the passengers keep the dog in the overheard storage compartment. According to a Facebook post by passenger June Lara, the dog belonged to a family, which included a young girl, a toddler and their mother on board the flight. Lara claimed that flight attendants said the dog would be safe inside the compartment for three hours during the flight. "This little guy fought hard for his life, filling our flight with his cries until he finally ran out of breath," Lara wrote. "United Airlines does not care about the safety of their furry travelers. This poor family paid 5 for their pet to be murdered in front of them. There is no excuse for the pain this family is suffering."United Airlines told ABC News it takes responsibility for the dog's death, but could not say whether anyone would be disciplined for Monday's incident. "This was a tragic accident that should have never occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin,” United said in a statement. “We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them. We are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again.”According to United Airline policy, dogs are permitted on board flights as long as they are kept inside a kennel, which must fit completely under the seat in front of the customer and remain there at all times. 1603

Two days after Chris Watts' family vanished, he asked to see his father as he was being questioned by investigators in Colorado. In a bare white room at the Frederick Police Department, he told his father that he'd "freaked out" and killed his wife in a fury after a fight over plans to separate, according to newly released video from the Weld County District Attorney's office."Oh my God," his father said, dropping his head into his hands.Shanann Watts and the couple's two daughters -- Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3 -- were reported missing August 13. After denying for days that he was involved, Chris Watts told his father on August 15 that he'd killed his wife because he saw her smothering their two daughters to death, the video shows. But prosecutors said he killed his pregnant wife and two daughters. He was sentenced this month to five life sentences with no possibility of parole after pleading guilty to the murders.Investigators released new videos and audio Thursday detailing some of the interactions they had with Watts and his mistress after his family was reported missing. 1095

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police are asking for the public's help identifying someone who reportedly stole COVID-19 test kits from a downtown health center.According to a Facebook post from the department, it happened at the El Rio Health Center at 839 West Congress Street just before 8 p.m. Surveillance video shows the suspect disguised as a delivery driver, walking into the health center and walking out with approximately 29 test kits.At the time, employees were getting ready to close the facility. Staff didn't notice the missing test kits until the next morning, TPD said. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, between 5'9" and 5'11" with a large build. He has a full beard, with some greying, and left the scene in a reddish-colored Dodge Charger, or similar vehicle.Police emphasized that the tests are essentially useless without a fully equipped lab, and professional staff to interpret the results. Home test kits for the coronavirus do not exist, and police say anyone who talks to someone trying to sell the kits should contact law enforcement. The stolen kits were already replaced at the El Rio Health Center, but the stolen kits would help public health officials in future testing efforts. 1229

Two dozen workers at an Amazon fulfillment center in New Jersey were taken to hospitals Wednesday after an aerosol canister of bear repellent fell off a shelf and discharged fumes inside the building, a spokesperson for Robbinsville Township told CNN, citing a preliminary investigation.Employees reported experiencing difficulty breathing and burning sensations in their eyes and throat, said John Nalbone, spokesperson for Robbinsville Township, where the fulfillment center is located.Emergency personnel responded to a morning 911 call that 54 workers at the fulfillment center were experiencing symptoms, Nalbone said. Twenty-four workers were taken to local hospitals, including one in critical condition, he said.It appears to be an accidental dispersal, he said, adding EMS is still on scene conducting triage.Bear repellent spray is similar to a can of pepper spray and is intended to deter an aggressive or charging bear. The US Fish and Wildlife Service recommends bear repellent spray as both safer and more effective than a firearm in fending off bear attacks.Rachael Lighty, regional manager for external communications for Amazon Operations, said a damaged canister caused the problem."Today at our Robbinsville fulfillment center, a damaged aerosol can dispensed strong fumes in a contained area of the facility," she said."The safety of our employees is our top priority, and as such, all employees in that area have been relocated to safe place and employees experiencing symptoms are being treated onsite. As a precaution, some employees have been transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment. We appreciate the swift response of our local responders."Nalbone said the call came in at approximately 8:50 a.m. to the Robbinsville EMS/911 system. One wing of the 1.3 million square foot center was evacuated, he added. 1858
