ATLANTA (AP) — Two more Atlanta police officers have been fired over an incident in which two college students were pulled from a car during a protest against police brutality.Atlanta police confirmed Wednesday that Sgt. Lonnie Hood and Officer Armon Jones were fired as a result of their involvement in the May 30 incident.Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and police Chief Erika Shields previously announced the firing of two other officers who were involved in the incident.Hood and Jones were among the officers caught on camera shouting at a young couple in a car in downtown traffic during the Black Lives Matter protests. The cops then proceeded to fire Tasers at the pair and dragged them from the vehicle.Throughout the incident, the man and woman can be heard screaming and asking what they did wrong.The four officers who have been fired and two other cops are facing criminal charges in connection with the altercation.Hood is charged with aggravated assault against both Young and Pilgrim for using a Taser against both of them, according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Associated Press. He is also charged with simple battery for violently pulling Pilgrim from the car and throwing her down on to the street, the warrant says.Jones is charged with aggravated battery for hurting Young’s left arm when he dragged him from the car and slammed him onto the street, the warrant says. Average rates on long-term mortgages continue to fall to new record lows, as the key 30-year loan dropped below 3% for the first time in 50 years. The stagnant economic recovery in the face of the coronavirus pandemic is keeping inflation tamped down despite pent-up homebuying demand. Mortgage buyer Freddie Mac says the average rate on the 30-year home loan fell this week to 2.98% from 3.03% last week. These are the lowest levels since Freddie Mac began tracking averages in 1971. The rate averaged 3.81% a year ago.In their update, Freddie Mac says the low rates has led to increased homebuyer demand. Meanwhile, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association, refinancing applications increased recently, about 12 percent in the last week. However, Freddie Mac warns that with an increase in coronavirus cases, the economy can stagnate and cause temporary job layoffs to possibly become permanent. "It's like that one time that we can all come together whether we're Democrat or Republican."After months of divisive politics, King and other musicians came together through Play For The Vote. Their mission: lift worries and burdens from voters' shoulders and create a different feeling at the polls this Election Day."With everything we've been through since the beginning of this year, you can turn a negative into a positive," said King of this moment in history.Poll workers across Atlanta expected crowds of voters lined up around the building, but the day was quiet. The average wait was under five minutes. For musicians Ally Jenkins and Brian Raddock, performing on Election Day, even to a small crowd, was a moment of triumph, especially in a time where their life’s work has been slipping through their fingers."It's been a nightmare," said Jenkins, a violinist. "Everything was canceled within like three days of each other, and this is tens of thousands of dollars of income and also our purpose for living."Her longtime friend and fellow musician, Brian Raddock, feels her pain. "Devastating is putting it lightly, and in a lot of ways, and it's just because we're both freelancers. It's really show to show," he said.These two have played on Broadway and across New York City until COVID-19 shut their livelihoods down."I feel the most alive when I'm playing music, and to not have that with other people, it's it just kind of makes you feel a little bit lost when you're having to do it by yourself," said Raddock.But Election Day brought back a glimpse of normalcy. "To see some people smile while we're playing music and to use art to really help bring some more beauty into the world, I can't really even describe what it means. It's just wonderful," said Raddock.Their audience, mostly poll workers, agreed. "It was fun. It lifted your spirits to hear them. They're so talented, they're so good, and then to hear their plight, that's just something you hadn't even thought about," said Pattie Harris, an election volunteer.Thousands of musicians across the country are experiencing the same struggle. Attorneys for former FBI Director James Comey and the US House of Representatives fought in court Friday afternoon over whether Comey must testify to Congress in a private hearing next week.While Comey technically seeks to pause or kill the subpoena, he is using the case to air his accusation that members of the Republican-led House and Senate selectively leak details for their own benefit when they call witnesses to testify in private.Attorneys for the House called Comey's request "so extraordinary and frivolous that, as far as undersigned counsel is aware, no district court in the history of the Republic has ever granted such a request."Judge Trevor McFadden said at the hearing that he hoped to rule Monday morning after meeting again with both legal teams.The meat of Friday's dispute was how each side characterizes Comey's congressional subpoena. Comey's team says Congress is in violation of its own rules by not conducting its fact-finding hearing in public. The hearing won't require that level of secrecy because no sensitive law enforcement information is expected to be discussed, Comey's team said.The House general counsel countered that because Comey's testimony would be a deposition with staff, a public session isn't required.McFadden asked whether Comey could release a transcript of his testimony to get the full picture before the public.
