The owner of a?dog that was stolen Saturday evening from a Petco in Palm Beach Gardens was reunited with her pet Tuesday morning.The dog's owner, Tara Harris, said police called her in the middle of the night to say they found her pet Maltese-mix named Teddy. Harris arrived at the Palm Beach Gardens police station at about 5 a.m. local time to pickup Teddy, who is 11-years-old, blind and diabetic.Palm Beach Gardens police said they arrested Heather Ryan, 48, who had the dog in her possession. Circumstances of the arrest have not been released by police. However, police said Ryan was arrested near Legacy Place off PGA Boulevard and charged with grand theft.Harris wanted to thank police and the public for their help reuniting her with Teddy.“I’ll never be able to put into words how unbelievably amazing it was (to be reunited with Teddy)," Harris said. "I can’t express into words how happy I am to have him back in my arms with my family."The dog, which lost 1.2 pounds in three days, was taken to a veterinarian to be evaluated. Teddy was slightly dehydrated when he was found overnight and is now on an IV since his blood sugar levels were high.   1247

Being rushed through the double doors at Northwest Hospital, he said, was the day God gave him a second chance to live."(The doctor) said, 'You had 30 days top, 45 you would have been dead for sure,'" he said.That was back in 2007, after being involved in a car crash and suffering a neck and foot injury. Lyles said his doctor prescribed Percocet and Ativan to treat the pain, the beginning of the end for him, Lyles stated. That's because one day his daily dose wasn't enough to end the pain."I'll take another Percocet, and when I did, I liked the feeling and from that point forward, I started increasing my drug intake," he added.After that, the rest of the year became a blur, he said. His life began closing down on him, divorcing his wife, and losing communication with his only son. Until a serious conversation with his doctor convinced him to seek professional help: "He told me you need to go back and listen to them and so I did," he explained.Ever since, Lyler said he has been the best student at Sierra Tucson, where he has been focusing on his recovery, and most importantly staying clean for nearly 10 years.He also wants to make sure other patients find the courage to recover. The NHL announced plans on Monday to resume play on August 1 with training camp slated to get underway next week.Currently, the NHL is in “Phase 2” of its reopening plan, which allows players to practice on a voluntary basis at team facilities. On July 13, full-team practices will be held at team practice facilities or arenas.On July 26, teams will travel to two hub cities in advance of a 24-team tournament slated to begin August 1. The CBC and Sportsnet both report that Toronto and Edmonton will serve as the two “hub cities” for resumption of play. The cities will likely be chosen as coronavirus cases are declining in Canada while increasing in the United States.Sixteen of the NHL’s 24 teams will participate in a qualifying round for this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Louisville Metro police department has fired one of the police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor. A termination letter for Officer Brett Hankison released by the city’s police department today said Hankinson violated procedures by showing “extreme indifference to the value of human life." The letter also said Hankinson violated the rule against using deadly force. Taylor, who was Black, was shot eight times by officers who burst into her Louisville home using a no-knock warrant during a March 13 narcotics investigation. Two other officers remain on administrative reassignment while the shooting is investigated.Taylor, who was employed as an EMT, was inside of her home when police conducted a “no-knock raid” on her home. Thinking the police officers were intruders, Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, allegedly shot at police.Louisville Metro Police officers returned fire, striking and killing Taylor.Walker was originally arrested for firing at police, but later was released. 1024
