THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (KGTV) -- Five people were arrested Sunday in Ventura County after attempting to steal several Apple products from the store inside The Oaks Mall. Around 3:17 p.m. three of the suspects entered the store, all wearing hooded sweatshirts with the hoods up, police said. Once inside the group proceeded to steal Apple iPhones and laptops totaling ,000.00. All three suspects ran out of the store, crashing into and knocking down a female customer. Police said other Apple customers were able to tackle two of the suspects - identified as Donte Sims and Timothy Terry, both of Antioch, California - and keep them down in time for law enforcement arrived. Sims and Terry were arrested on criminal conspiracy and burglary charges. The third suspect got away but was seen getting into a waiting vehicle. Around 3:36 p.m. Sunday, a Ventura County Sheriff patrol deputy caught a vehicle with three people driving over the speed limit on State Route 118 in Simi Valley. Sacramento resident Mona Benoit was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Her passengers, Tynisha Noel of Fresno and Edward Benton of Antioch were arrested after a search of the vehicle revealed that the Apple merchandise stolen from the Thousand Oaks stores was in the vehicle - along with merchandise reported stolen after a burglary in Los Angeles. Thousand Oaks Police Department Detectives identified the group as an organized retail theft crew and are investigating.  1571

Ticketmaster has issued a response regarding Billboard's report that concertgoers would have to verify that they've been vaccinated or tested negative for the virus before attending a live show.In an email to E.W. Scripps, Ticketmaster said there is no requirement coming from them about mandating vaccines or testing for future events.In the original report, Billboard reported that the ticket-selling company would set up a way for the customers' COVID test results to be sent to third-party health companies. And through its digital app, Ticketmaster would tie those test results or vaccination status to a ticket digitally that'd be used to enter events.Ticketmaster explained that it is up to the event organizers to set policies around safety and entry requirements."Ticketmaster does not have the power to set policies around safety/entry requirements, which would include vaccines and/or testing protocols, a spokesperson for Ticketmaster said. "That would be up to the discretion of the event organizer, based on their preferences and local health guidelines."The spokesperson explained that they are exploring the ability to enhance their existing digital ticket capabilities amid the pandemic."One path Ticketmaster is actively exploring and working to develop is a framework for syncing with third-party healthcare providers to link COVID vaccine status and/or test results to fans' digital tickets for event entry," the spokesperson said. "All aspects of vaccine verification/testing for the broad public would be set by regional health officials. Any health information would be stored with third-party health care providers with HIPPA compliance, not with Ticketmaster."In a statement, Ticketmaster President Mark Yovich added that the company's goal is to "provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events.""We imagine there will be many third-party health care providers handling vetting - whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test, or other methods of review and approval - which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified," Yovich said. "We are working to create integrations to our API and leading digital ticketing technology as we will look to tap into the top solutions based on what's green-lit by officials and desired by clients."Ticketmaster added that this is still in development. Once the technology and regulations are approved, the company said they would make it available, but there is no timeline for implementing this potential idea."In short, we are not forcing anyone to do anything," the spokesperson said. "Just exploring the ability to enhance our existing digital ticket capabilities to offer solutions for event organizers. There's a new way to do contact tracing in the works and it could make a difference for health care providers during flu season.Vibrent Health just got a contract with major health institutions to develop the platform.Part of the idea is for users to enter their symptoms and find out if they're more likely to have the flu or COVID-19.“Health care facilities do get bombarded with perhaps people thinking that they have COVID when they just had flu, so the idea is how do you help the health care organizations to reduce some of the burden,” said Praduman Jain, founder and CEO of Vibrent Health.The technology is designed to be embedded in other apps that organizations and intuitions already use, like a university application for students.“So, make it easy for people and don't try to change their behavior,” said Jain. “They are already using certain applications that this can become a part of.”The app uses Wi-Fi networks to find out if you may have been close to someone with the virus.It could help cut some contact tracing work for public health departments. Instead of calling everyone that may have come in contact with the virus, the app can report that information.“There are only so many people, so many human beings, so many people that public health departments can hire to do that contact tracing, so technology becomes really important,” said Jain.Development is still in its early stages. A visionary who failed to yield to the influence of others as he remained devoted to his creative vision, he often drove away those who he relied on. He also exploited his fame to indulge in romance and power fantasies with young fans.Kricfalusi opens up in a shockingly candid manner, apologizing for some of his decisions while doubling down on others. What emerges is a complete, complex portrait of a troubled man who started from nothing, had it all and then lost just about everything. The series aired from 1991 to 1995 on Nickelodeon, then came back in a brief, adult-themed incarnation in 2003. Kricfalusi has now lost most of his creative relevance, and apparently, also his drive.While "Ren & Stimpy" superfans will get the most out of the documentary, it also makes for a fascinating ride for anyone with a passing interest in the evolving form of animation. There’s been a significant bounce back in the U.S. job market, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest monthly unemployment report. In June, 4.8 million people were able to go back to work.Businesses in hospitality and leisure added 2.1 million jobs. Food services and drinking establishments added 1.5 million jobs, while retail saw 740,000 workers return to work.“The job market bounced back pretty strongly in June, but we have to keep everything into perspective,” said Ryan Sweet, an economist and Head of Monetary Policy and Research for Moody’s Analytics.Sweet says compared to where the U.S. was prior to the pandemic, jobs are still down by roughly 15 million.Economists, like Sweet, believe the job rebound seen in June is likely over, and the U.S. job market will likely reflect a lull in July.“The lull, it is unclear how long that will last,” Sweet said. “We are hoping until the end of this year.”As coronavirus cases continue to surge in the U.S., the hope for just a lull dwindles and worry about another decline in employment grows.Companies like United and American airlines are already signaling major job loss could come in the near future. Both companies recently reported they may have to each layoff 25,000 workers. Analysts predict if other airlines have to do the same, the industry could lose up to 250,000 jobs.That’s hundreds of thousands of potential jobs lost in just one industry, and many others are signaling a similar situation.“The ones that I am most nervous about are state and local governments because it seems that there is less urgency for lawmakers to pass fiscal stimulus,” said Sweet. “If we don’t get another round of fiscal stimulus, this lull is going to turn into a contraction.”Congress has been talking for two months about another stimulus package, but there is no clear signal that one will come in time. 1881
