A cyber security company is concerned with Amazon’s upcoming Prime Day shopping event.Check Point Research found a significant increase in the number of website domains registered using the words “Amazon” and “Prime.” More than a quarter are considered malicious, and one in ten suspicious.“The user may not realize it’s a fake website, because hackers usually do a really good job of imitating the look and feel of the website they're trying to come off as,” said Maya Levine, security expert at Check Point.Check Point says look for the little "lock" icon next to a website's address and also check for the additional letter “s” after “http.” Those both indicate a reliable site.“This is just something that is making the website a little more secure, so if you're seeing http without the s, that means you're missing that added layer of encryption, that added layer of security,” said Levine.Don't overshare online. You should never have to enter your birthday or social security number to buy something. You should also avoid public Wi-Fi when shopping and reset your Amazon password before you shop Prime Day sales.“If your password for one account got leaked and it’s the same one as your Amazon account, a hacker can take that and test it out,” said Levine.Also be leery of emails or texts about Amazon Prime Day or any events in general. A California district attorney has charged two people with hate crimes after they attempted to paint over a "Black Lives Matter" street mural in a Bay Area town over the weekend.Nicole Anderson, 42, and David Nelson, 53, of Martinez, California, each face three charges, including violation of civil rights, according to the Office of Contra Costa County District Attorney Diana Becton.According to the DA, video taken over the weekend shows Anderson and Nelson using paint rollers to try and black out a large, yellow "Black Lives Matter" mural in downtown Martinez.In the video, which was shared widely on social media, a man appearing to be Nelson was wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap and a Trump campaign shirt that read "Four More Years.""The narrative of police brutality, the narrative of oppression, the narrative of racism, it's a lie," the man said."Keep this [expletive] in New York. This is not happening in my town," a woman, allegedly Anderson, said in the video.In addition to charges of civil rights violations, Anderson and Nelson also face charges of vandalism under 0 and possession of tools to commit vandalism or graffiti. A father of two young children found dead inside a hot truck was released on bond after the Tulsa District Attorney's Office said surveillance video shows the children got into the car on their own.The district attorney said in a statement that video from a neighbor's home confirmed the two young children got into the truck on their own and never got back out.The DA's office issued the following statement on Monday: 427

A fatal crash that closed the westbound lanes of I-696 near Detroit Tuesday involved a driver who ran out of gas on the side of the freeway. The Michigan State Police said a driver that ran out of gas was parked on the right shoulder. His father came to the scene to bring gas. As the driver was filling his tank with gas, and his father sat in his car with the child of the stranded driver, another driver on the freeway lost control and hit both vehicles. The driver filling his tank was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car that lost control sustained minor injuries. MSP said the suspect driver is in custody and a blood draw was performed at a nearby hospital. There are no indications of alcohol or drugs at this time, said MSP. Speed does appear to be a factor, MSP said. The freeway reopened shortly before 5:30 p.m. 897

A Kentucky high school teacher on Tuesday ousted an incumbent state lawmaker who had a role in passing a controversial pension bill this year that sparked outrage from teachers across the state.Republican voters chose Travis Brenda, a high school math teacher, over House Majority Floor Leader Jonathan Shell, who was first elected in 2012.Brenda bested Shell by a narrow margin of 123 votes In Tuesday's Republican primary for House District 71st, according to unofficial results posted to the Kentucky State Board of Elections.This past spring, Kentucky teachers held rallies at the state Capitol for more funding and to oppose a controversial pension bill, Senate Bill 151, which, among other initiatives, prevents changes to annual cost-of-living adjustments and limits the number of sick days teachers can put toward their retirement.Shell had helped turn SB 151, which had been about sewage services, into a pension overhaul and voted in support of the bill. The bill was quickly passed in the House and the Senate without allowing the public to read it, and then sent to GOP Gov. Matt Bevin to sign the bill on April 11.During the campaign, Brenda used his experience as a teacher to make the point that he's not a politician and he understands the importance of funding education. On Twitter, Brenda was critical of the pension bill and posted pictures from the April 2 teacher protest at the state Capitol.Shell confirmed to CNN he called Brenda Tuesday night to congratulate him.
